Effects of 20 plus years of heavy lifting and Marine Corps

I just came from the chiropractor today. Saw my x-ray's. Man I looked like an 80 year old man. No curvature in my neck , middle back was okay, lower back needs more curvature and my right hip is 12 mm lower than my left and my lower vertabrae are all twisted. No wonder my lower back hurts all the time.

He feels that we caught it in plenty of time and I can make an almost full recovery. He is into helping body builders staying "tuned up".

Let's face it, when you squat heavy (315 and up) routinely, shoulder press 225 and up, bent rows heavy, dead lifts heavy, heavy barbell curls, etc even with proper form and warm ups we are punishing our bodies beyond belief.

We spend so much time worrying about muscle cannabalism, protein synthesis and so that we study
and research the best steroids to use and how to use them, the best foods and diets, but not once have most of us stopped to research how to keep our skeletol system in top notch order.

Bro, I played college football before I served five years in the Army Rangers. The Rangers took way more out of my body than lifting heavy weights and playing football ever did. You and I (and others) know this for a fact--did your back hurt more after squats or a 25 mile roadmarch with a 70 lbs ruck? Talk about punishing our bodies!!! I lost an inch of height, broke my hip, and dislocated a knee jumping out of airplanes and shit. I agree, our skeletal system is the probably the most overlooked , but most important, system in our body.

My back always hurt, I just made it worse by punishing it. Am I gonna stop? Hell know and you are right that was some shit.

If I can get copies of my x-rays I will scan and post them. I can show you what can happen if we don't take care of the whole system.

Also, I fully believe in chiropractors and alternative medicine as well as the conventional. But I prefer the natural to the science. It works.
Chiropractic is a godsend. Its helped me TREMENDOUSLY. ANd yes I am fucked like your body is too.

Semper Gumby Bro!! I broke three hands and three ankles( all my own) while in the grunts for 11 years. I feel like an old man but grunt through it and keep pushing as heavy as I can. I have been considering seeing a chiropractor. I think it is a combination of my gruntwork, heavy lifting and bad form in then past. Unfortunatley I keep choosing these carreers that require fitness AKA running.

Chiropractors helped my low back out a lot.

Also, this may seem a bit fem, but I go to a yoga class about once a week at the gym. You would be surprised what regular sessions of good stretching can do for you.

My record is three years of real lifting with two hernias. Bad knees from running and hips hurt somtimes from hello dollys and leg lifts. But over all its worth it. If not the gym id be an drunk like most other jarheads.
