EF daily post limit. yay or nay?

on one hand, it would stop the attention whores from posting 200 times a day. half of which are often :lmao: or "lol"

on the other hand, what if you were close to the limit and a good subject came up. or maybe you think that's censorship?

I think we should only get 3 honks a month on the car horn, because people honk the car horn too much. 3 honks, that's the limit. And then someone cuts you off, ffffft, you press your horn, nothing happens.

and I was being sarcastic, it seems like over the past few years the site has done things to reduce overall participation, which is fine, if that is the goal.

I'd like to see if the sales numbers are up or down since some of the changes like restricting the search to plat members, making karma come out of your own pocket, etc. If revenues are up, then yes, I'd say it makes great sense to also establish a limit on posting, which would do a couple of things:
1) drive some people away
2) force some people to post daily just to hit their quota, regardless of whether or not they had anything of any value to say

I'm surprised this thread was even made, usually the way things work is, implement new rules/plan, think about it after

Perhaps we should put a limit on people posting nude avatars that are an inch away from pink and then calling others "attention whores" Perhaps even ban threads calling others "attention whores" so that they can get some attention.

and another salient point to show how ass backwards thinking is around here.

Before you started limiting aggregate post count per day, you might want to first look at limiting NEW THREADS per day.

You can easily envision a case where someone would need to post 100 times a day, but its tough to imagine needing to start more than a handful of threads per day (except maybe in the bookie forum or Picture of Women, something like that)

how about we randomly charge someone's credit card double for their monthly plat dues each week, then wait a full week to respond when the user figures it out and complains! Sounds like great fun!
 
the post count idea is funny though, because knowing George it would only apply to non plats, or non plats would probably get like 5 posts a day and plats would get substantially more. A great way to further separate the haves and have nots.

Customer Service around here is NON existant.. then when you post in C&C to get attention the Admin comes around and says 'Uh... that's not the way to get a response'...

Yet.. .time and time again, it's the ONLY way to get a response... :rolleyes:

I think BRR gives great customer service, but the problem is, there is only one of him, and a ton of users of this site. I've always had great experiences dealing with him, but he's got a job and a life and can't be available 24/7 to cater to every whim.

then you've got digger, who seems like to meddle more in insignificant nuances of the board drama (remember how staunchly he defended RADAR?) than worry about any sort of "customer service."

If you want digger's attention, post an offensive avatar, but good luck saying something like "hey my plat membership got shut off and I'm not sure why!"

I can't call people cunts and talk about my nasty shit I had today might as well limit the times i can say "LOL".. also I can only post once every 15 seconds now b/c of wootoom and can't post dirty pictures all the time thanks to bran

Why not just put a lifetime post count cap in place, each person gets a set number of posts in their lifetime and are banned once they reach it.

definitely some kind of limits, preferably applied to certain users. but even if not, i'll gladly accept a limit on my own ability to post crap, if it limits the shit coming out of someone else's diseased fingers. i also agree that thread limits are better than post limits, but hell, let's use both. even if this place slows to a crawl, fine. even if 100s of people leave, fine.

lastly, a few of us should be allowed to form The Elite Death Squad (aka Platinum Killers). The admins supply us with all relevant information on select users, so we can find where they live and then shotgun them in their sleep.

now this is a great idea. or there could be a "3 strikes you're out" rule where if you post stupid shit 3 times you get a limit. sure would make this a better place, cause lately its sucked.

people post at different rates, and for different reasons, there are enough supervision that if someone steps too far out of line they get slapped back pretty quickly..

we all deal with people that post endlessly, but they can be entertaining...

for a while...

here and there. i got a new job but the school semester was not over and the schedule between the two was killing me so i dropped the classes this semester and will start with a better more convenient schedule that works for me.
