Eating after weight training

nhbmark

New member
Hey all,

I know it' been said you should eat after you weigh train.

How important is this?
Should it be just protein?

My situation is I workout very late 10:30pm (by choice, my gym's open til midnight) And I'm asleep within an hour after I get home.

Should I still eat?
If so, how much.

Thanks & Happy Friday!:)

Slam a carb/protein drink immediatly after weight training...like a minute after your last set. Then have a solid food meal 1.5 hours later with a decent amount of carbs/protein. Keep fat at almost 0 with these meals. And don't worry about the carbs before bed making you fat....they will go soley to glycogen replacement.

Take down anything that's nearly pure protein w/ some flax oil. Can't hurt you before bed, and your body definitly needs the nutrients.

If he's gonna drink a dextrose/whey drink immediatly after his workout, then flax in NOT a good idea 1-1.5 hours later!

Why is that? its my understanding that the body won't convert the flaxs into body fat?? or am i completely misunderstanding this??

good question - i heard the same thing...

also - how long will it take your insulin to come back to earth if you consume your protein dextrose shake post workout.... The postworkout factor should result in the insulin clearing the system quickly???? would ala help this

Your body will store that fat in flax. If it didn't you woudn't have to work the flax oil into your daily caloric totals.

Also, eating fat 1-1.5 hours after having a high carb meal is a bad idea....you still gonna have insulin present in your blood, and you sure as hell don't want to eat fat with your insulin elvevated.

Its my understanding that when you take dextrose post workout, it will restore glycogen in the muscles, and not affect your liver, allowing you to remain in a state of ketosis. It has been tested by a few on other boards to be proven as true. this will allow you to get out of catabolic state much quicker, and could results in muscle growth as well from what i have read. I have been on CKD for a few weeks, and it does work well, but my workouts are suffering dramtically and I prefer to have more intense workouts.
