I realize that technically this should be on the diet board, but everyone I know posts here and I'm not sure if they even visit the diet board (I rarely do).

This will work well for anyone IMO, especially those strapped for time (college students with heavy courseloads, for example).

The tuna salad sandwich. I know everyone has heard this before, but many people pine over all the mayo they'll be consuming by eating so many of these a day. Simple solution: Safflower oil mayo. Healthful fat. Also use quality whole wheat bread. I find toasting it makes it even better.

There you have it. Quality protein, healthful fat from 2 different sources (the fish oil and safflower oil), and quality carbs all packed into one meal that's as easy as slapping down a mixture onto a slice of bread. You can make a lot of the tuna salad relatively quickly, store it away in tupperware and just keep it handy for the next few days.

What? Do you think there is fish oil in a can of tuna? That's what he said in his post.

where do you find this "Safflower oil mayo" -
do places like wal mart carry it?

I do this also for breakfast sometimes but i use chicken salad instead of tuna salad. i can't stand tuna.

Only place I have found safflower mayo is Whole Foods Market and my local Nutriiton Depot. If you don't have one of those try your local hippie health food store :)

There is only 1 gram of fat in a can of tuna so the fish oil is minimal at best.

Yeah but it's still there. It's just a side benefit. Also you can buy tuna that is contained in oil. It's not fish oil though I believe. Maybe olive oil.

and if you hate tuna like me, hard boil 6 eggs, then dice em up into little squares, add some chopped up fried bacon, and some mayo, put that on some bread, mow down. tastes real good and has some good protein as well as carbs.

Buy the TUNA STEAKS........forget the canned shit, didn't realize that's what you were talking about......tuna steak is a great source of healthy EFAs

I agree this is a good choice but it's far more expensive. 1 can of tuna has about 1400 mg of Omega-3s. If you're eating 6+ sandwiches a day that's pretty good.

If you're eating 6 sandwiches a day, you're asking for mercury poisoning.

Plus you should vary your protein sources occasionally or else your body gets allergic to one. Look it up on Poliquin's site.

lol...allergic??? That's a new one....I've eaten chicken for proably 8 years straight..........also, can't recall the last time I didn't have eggs on any given day.....or oats fopr that matter...........hell, my diet is the same day in and out...........

I'm sorry but this is all bullshit. You believe that you'll get mercury poisoning because Udo says so?

I HIGHLY doubt your second statement. And where did I say to only eat tuna sandwiches? I eat chicken and beef almost every day, and have milk and egg protein every day in either food or powdered form.

You might be right. From what I've read, I still think it's a bad idea to have more than 2 cans of tuna daily for extended periods of time.

That's good that you get variety of protein sources. I don't know if that allergy thing is true, I just remember reading it on Poliquin's site. He seems to know alot about nutrition and supplements. If I find the link, I'll post it. Nothing to be paranoid about, though.

oh horsesht........you're gonna die of something.........if you want tuna, eat it....now they are saying salmon is contaminating...and mad cows running all over the place....chickens with their heads cut off.......I got an idea, let's just eat grass! WAIT! It might have deet or other chemicals in the soil......I'm just having boiled water for the next few years..........
