Now what do you think he will get for wrongful incarceration compensation? I have heard that $200,000 TOTAL (not per year) is the most anyone ever gets. That seems kind of low.

I read some gang member in Chicago got 21 Million for 11.5 years in jail. (he got the money, got his freedom, but still has the criminal record. wtf??)

Another report stated that in LA you only get $15,000 per year in jail.

It varies by state but he'll probably have to go to state legislature to get anything...and he has to be exonerated, not pardoned.

I told BM about these cases popping up. The court of appeals has to clear them for retrial but theres a shitload right now due to the new speed on DNA which they didn't have during the times of these original trials.

99% of these people lived a scumbag thug lifestyle which made it very easy for a jury to believe they commited the crime. It's not like we're talking a sunday school teacher being found guilty of holding up a liquor store. Plus they have lengthy criminal records which also makes it easier for juries to convict.

When you're talking compensation you're saying "How much taxpayer money should go to this lifelong scumbag who got convicted cuz he spent all his time with other scumbags?". When people say give him $21 million, governmets should turn arond and raise their sales tax accordingly.

Our justice system isn't perfect - but should we tapxayers pay out just cuz he and his defense couldn't defend themselves properly? What about innocent iraqis who are killed by us missiles? Shouldn't they get money? What about people killed by polie chases, drunk drivers or 911 calls that take forever? Society could wind up havibng to install a 40% tax base across the board to give millions to "people who have been wronged".

That $20 million is not free. It's usually balanced by hiring less cops, teachers, road maintenance, UI benefits or laying off state workers.
