Drinking Water

I notice just about everyone discusses diet and the amount of carbs and protien they ingest. However, you don't see too many people talk about drinking enough water. I only say this because I know several people who don't drink nearly enough water and then complain about how weak they feel ect. Just a thought as well as kind of a reminder because along with everything else to remember during a cycle, the subject of drinking enough water could easily slip through the cracks.

yep, i tell all my clients to drink half their body weight in fluid ounces daily. that's a good starting point.

I want to add a question to this post. In precontest would you want to cut your water intake 24-48 hours out. If so, how much do the pros take in. What is the secret to razor thin skin???

8and20. Could you give my two latest post a look over and tell me what you think? Please?

No one will do that unless you give them a link. C'mon, do some of the work.

Side note: I refuse to believe anyone drinks 3+ gallons of water a day. That is...well thats a fucking lot of water is what that is.

i am between 1-2. close to 3 during the summer.

Three?!? Wow, I think I'd drown....

I probably do about 1 gallon and I weigh 180. I just bring one of those 1 liter Zephyrhills bottles to work and keep refilling it at the cooler all day...usually 2-3 refills before I go home.

I know i drink 2 gallons of water everyday. I have my gallon jug that i drink and i drink out of my 1/2 gallon jug two of those everyday as well i know im getting enough water. This is through out the day and not including the water used to make my protein shakes and my preworkout drink.

VERY UNDERRATED...WATER is essential. I shoot for 1.5-2 gallons daily

The more water you drink the more vitamins and minerals you piss out too, hope you all know that
1 gal a day is good for me till summer then is about 1.5

Minimum 2 gals daily
Usually 3 a day.

Yes, I piss all the time. But it's worth it to be well hydrated and healthy. Toxins are swept right out with the urine. You'll be surprised how 'healthy' you feel when you drink this much H20

Plus it helps out GREATLY with skin complexion. A must when using AAS

Had this very question asked on another board I frequent. Here is the cut and paste response I placed to that same question:

Drinking water is essential to maintaining bodily health and for BB'ers even more so. We all know we have to drink more on cycle but do we really understand why?

Firstly let me tell you drinking more on cycle is great but we should all be drinking more period. You may think this is becuase we train so hard..well that's part of the story. Obviously we do perspire a lot when in the gym or doing cardio so naturally we need to replenish those lost fluids with water and we should be doing this regularly while we train. Ideally we should be hydrating before, during and after training.

Now for the other side of this. We should all be on a diet high in protein and we understand why that is. But we don't probably realise is that a high protein diet can lead to problems with things like Uric Acid which is found in most meats, especially red meats. The extra water intake helps in removing Uric Acid from our bodies. Also I know some like these low carb diets. Personally I think they suck. When you restrict carbs and regularly train with a high intensity your depriving your body of a vital energy source and producing a lot of keytone bodies and more on them shortly. Sure your going to burn fat faster but at what rate to your overall health. Anyways I digress..back to water....

High protein diet means you excrete more calcium through your urine. This can lead to kidney stones and make your kidneys work harder than they need to. Also as we are constantly breaking down and building new muscle our body produces much more waste during this process and most of this is removed by our kidneys from the blood as it passes through them. Upping your water intake will go a long way to overcoming and problems which may arise from this as it flushes your kidneys. One final point is the removal of keytones (remember I mentioned these). These are produced when we burn fat for fuel and are an important energy source for our brain but are not good in excess amounts in the blood. Too many elevates the acidity level of our blood and the kidenys are again overworked trying to remove them. The kidneys remove excess keytones and pass them through urine. One problems with these keytones though is that they take a lot of fluid with them being removed this way. So again being properly hydrated is an excellent way to keep things in balance.

Knowing all of this will now may help you understand why on cycle we need a higher water intake than others so to speak (at least I hope so).

Finally I have a good formula for you to gauge if your getting enough water rather than relying on recommended amounts from various sources which typically equate to somewhere between 8-12 cups a day. This sytem works primarily based on your calorie intake daily and is much better suited to our lifestyles. Simply put it is below:

0.043 ounces of water x Daily Caloric Intake ÷ 8 = Daily Fluid Requirement in cups

So as an example if your on a 4000 calorie day diet:

0.043 x 4000 ÷ 8 = 21.5 cups

As you can see this is approximately double the daily recommended.
