Dr. Help

pmd287

New member
Hey guys, I'm new to EF and i need some help.

I have been working out for a year and a half. A year of it with a college strength coach, and my gains have been pitiful. I have gained 60 lbs on squat and 40 lbs on bench (which i lost half of on vacation lol).

Anyway about 4 months ago i went to a doctor and was tested for testosterone levels and they were low. This doctor put me on andro drops at a concentration of 2 mls/day. It has been over three months and nothing. He isn't an endo and he is hesitant about doing what needs to be done. I went to another doctor that my parents also suggested and wanted to punch the woman in the face she was so dumb.

Anyway i really need to find a good endo in the Austin, Tx area. I have had a doctor say that since i can perform sexually there is not a problem and i should just let it go, but thats absurd. I wasn't a lazy kid, I work extremely hard, and am tired of being outdone by everyone and their mother. I would greatly appreciate your input.

Thanks.

bump for someone who knows bro sorry no ones responded yet

i know pmd personally and can attest to the fact that he has done everything right in terms of eating, lifting, etc.

so another bump for a good bro

Isn't what a doc will put one on dictated by how low ones levels come back as? I mean, we don't know if you're at the low end of normal or dysfunctional low.

And you've only been working out a year and a half. You're still a beginner. I didn't start making any real gains until years in. Hell, I didn't even know how to lift weights very well after only a year of training. Big changes don't come quick. The human body simply doesn't work that way, and the public figures like Lee Priest are not normal representations of the human race.

shut up samoth. your basically calling him an idiot.

he asked for an endocrinologist recomendation in austin tx area, not to be given the "noobie speach"

hes working with a college strength coach who i have worked out with before and know is the real deal. he eats how he should, he does his squats, his powercleans, all his big lifts, and hasnt made the gains he should.

ill wait for him to post more info up, since its his business, but his doctor is seriously an idiot, which is why i told him to post this thread in the first place

Hey yeah i'm sorry if i didn't give full enough information but i wasn't expecting to go up 200lbs per lift or anything. I can tell you that what i am doing is the right way to gain and i have seen 12 yr olds gain more in 4 months than i have in over a year. I had a endoscreen spit test done and I can't remember the exact numbers but the average range for males of all age groups is 95-650 and i don't know what the measurement is in. I don't have the info with me at the moment but at 8 in the morning my level was 200 and by midnight i was at 98.5. Now that raises some flags because i am 20 I am supposed to be at the height of testosterone production for my life. I haven't done the blood test and it was suggested that i get it done, but i want to find a decent endo and do the tests as his patient so that i don't end up doing it and then having him tell me he wants to run the same tests again.

I may be wrong and it may not be the testosterone but its not just the year and a half of lifting, there has been some evidence of a problem for a long time and i would just like to get an answer, and after the poor experience i have had with the last two doctors i would like somebody who is competent in the area of concern to deal with my situation.

It depends on your ins. and if you need a referrel to see an endo, if you dont need a referrel you can just go into the yellow pages and start googling names, on the other hand if you need a referrel just tell your doc. that you want to see an endo, if he refuses to give you the referrel switch your primary care doc to a doc that will...

I am not from your area so do not know of the endos there, but i would bet there are quite a few and it sounds to me like an endo is the way to go in your situation, 90% of primary care physicians have no clue when it comes to hormones in my humble opinion......

pmd

try asking guys at the local gyms for reccommendations on area doctors amenable to prescribing anabolics where appropriate. sometimes internists, sometimes endos.

also, check around for sports related medical practices

here's an example of a sports clinic in austin

Andro drops?

Sublimlime telling samoth, one of the most respected and knowledgable mods to shut up?

Coming on a board to get the name of a doctor in his area when he can just google it?

What the fuck?

I'm not a Dr. but, I am a physician assistant. I can tell you from personal expierence that going to your family Doc, which I assume is who you already went to is not going to help you. Also, going to an endocrinologist probably wont help much either. The way I got my script for test cyp was by going to see a personal friend of mine who is a urologist. He ran the lab work, got the results and said here ya go. With my insurance I pay $20 a month for a 10cc bottle of cyp. Just out of curiousity how old are you? Generally from what I have seen is if you fall in the category of 30 and over, a script is pretty easy to come by. Unfortunalely I dont know of any Docs in your area that might be able to help you. If I can help you out with any questions feel free to send me a PM. Good luck on your search bro. Karma is always appreciated.

Samoth does come off a little abrupt bro but you cant be tellin motherfuckers to shut up. Chill...

I'm 20. Thank you guys very much for the suggestions.

I have googled endocrinologists in my area and found a few, I was just seeing if there were any suggestions for good ones. I have talked to people at the gym and pretty much everyone i have run into. Nobody really has any suggestions so far so thats why i came here.

I don't know if it will be under insurance or not and its not my money to screw with really. My parents take care of medicals things and they can afford to pay a doctor but I was just hoping to not waste any more of their money on people who are no help at all.

But thanks to everyone who is trying to help.

With gains of 60 and 40 after a year and a half, something is wrong.

I'd just tell my doctor to do his damn job...and I'd quit taking that drops and save them for when they decide to throw some real shit your way.

Doctors can be bastards.

For one thing bro thats a good fucking gain. Who the hell told you in was not.
Your problem is with holding that gain and getting more gains. even with low test you can make gains and keep them.
It sounds to me like you have a consistence problem more then any thing. Ether in working out ( which dos not seem to be the problem) or with your diet.
Are you being true to yourself as well as others with the food you are taking into your body? Do you have a good diet plan and have you stuck to it?

You sound like a college guy to me. Diet is hard and expensive in college. What dos yours look like? do you use a mic a lot?

I was in your place exactly one year ago. I knew my test was low but didn't know how to go about finding a helpful doctor.

Once you have the list of docs in your area or under your insurance you just have to make some phone calls. Ask the nurses if the doctor has experience with "x" symptoms and problems you have. And what kind of medications he uses to treat the issue. From there you just have to pick the one that seems most up to date with your problem. And that means you researching and knowing whats going on with yourself so you can understand what and why the doctor suggests treatment, if needed.

I didn't see if you had said your low test was from steroids or not. But not many docs are experienced in that. If thats the case, a restart isn't a bad idea before going on hrt.

What were the numbers on your bloodwork anyway? list the range and your result.

Nah, I know where Subz's coming from.

The fact is that people nowadays want everything and they want it immediately. If a person's only been training a year or two, they are a beginner. A newbie. Whatever phrase floats your boat. It takes time to learn the lifts and right forms, learn what works for them and what doesn't, learn how to eat and eat enough, learn how much rest they need... ad nauseum.

I can tell you that what i am doing is the right way to gain and i have seen 12 yr olds gain more in 4 months than i have in over a year.
And how would you know this? You won't know what's right for yourself in such a short period of time. Quit listening to EAS commercials, bro. It takes time.

I had a endoscreen spit test done and I can't remember the exact numbers but the average range for males of all age groups is 95-650 and i don't know what the measurement is in. I don't have the info with me at the moment but at 8 in the morning my level was 200 and by midnight i was at 98.5.
But you're still within normal. It will be hard to get steroids prescribed if you are normal. Just because you're on the lower side of some random numbers they give doesn't mean you're deficient.

Most of us would love to put 40 pounds on their bench in only a year naturally. Without more stats, I really don't see the huge problem, other than you want an edge or outside advantage... just like every other person in the world wants for everything in life.

lolol, i didnt realize how "stern" and "professional" the attitudes at the non C&C forums have become

I am not necessarily trying to just get juiced. I just know that the andro drops i am on don't do anything for me. I want a doctor who understands, and knows how to deal with my problem. If things were normal for me i wouldn't have any interest in getting the extra edge. I have had many opportunities to do cycles but i just want to do things right and deal with the problem in the right way so i can just get on with my life and lift.

To give ya'll a little more insight I am not just complaining because i didn't get the gains i felt like i wanted. I started benching 55 lbs and squatting 80. The sad thing is that i am active and not a lazy couch bum. And even the lazy couch bums i know who do absolutely nothing are stronger than me. If I had started out benching 135 and squatting 225 this still would have irked me, but i know that something is wrong with my little amount of strenght and the ability to put on muscle, and especially any type of mass. I don't even give two shits about size all i want is functional strenght and thats the type of lifting i do. Heavy weights low reps, 4-5 days a week i hit it hard.

On the other hand i didn't even come up with this idea out of thin air. I was upset with my poor gains but just figured i needed to keep on keepin on. It was when many people who have naturally built themselves up and know what they are doing pointed out after seeing me work so hard that something was off.

oh and another thing, I didn't even get the blood tests done so i wanna see what my free test really is. I did the spit test and I have had a medical professional tell me thats a joke and the only real way to get an accurate reading is with blood test. I know somethings wrong, it would actually be a lifesaver if it was just my test. I would have an answer and no longer have to look!

But i got a list of all the endos i could find in my area and found a site where some of them have reviews, so tomorrow i am starting sketchiest location first and moving up. Hopefully i find a good one first try.

Thanks to everyone on this board who posted and i really enjoy the topics i definitely plan on sticking around.

Easy grab the yellowpages....(yes is the big yellow book besides your phone)
