I just read a new study suggests that drinking coffee reduces the risk of Alzheimer's. I don't drink coffee but I do take a caffiene supplement.

Some studies have also shown that coffee helps protects the nerve system, which can also protect against dementia, other studies show that coffee protects against diabetes, which in turn is known to be linked to Alzheimer's.

Hope that helps.

Coffee fits neatly into the receptors for a brain chemical known as adenosine, which is partly responsible for calming you down. By interrupting the activity of adenosine, coffee makes you feel awake and wired. You may think that's a good thing, but consider that virtually every study of PMS has implicated caffeine as a major culprit. The added stimulation and nervousness from the coffee makes you feel edgy at exactly the time that feeling calm would be a blessing. And the blood sugar fluctuations it produces contributes enormously to cravings.

The body treats a coffee jolt as a "stress response" much like the adrenals shooting a jolt of adrenaline into the system. Coffee also increases urinary secretion of important minerals such as magnesium, potassium and sodium and uses up a fair amount of vitamin B1. Not only that, the coffee plant itself is a virtual repository for toxins such as pesticides and other harmful chemicals. Although in the short run it may suppress appetite, over the course of a day most people find it stimulates cravings more than suppresses them.

I mix a scoop of chocolate whey in my morning coffee... mmmm...

I've done this and I like it. I've also brewed coffee the night before and kept in the fridge to make an iced coffee and protein in the AM.

I forgot to mention that I drink several cups a day. I do not know about you guys, but I can hardly function in the morning without it. I know I know party pooper so check out these studies regarding some +++ about drinking coffee.

coffee is a stimulant. used pre w/o or as soon as you wake up can be usefull. it also makes you pee more than you should so you need more water than you would if you didnt drink it.

Consider this: At least six studies indicate that people who drink coffee on a regular basis are up to 80% less likely to develop Parkinson's, with three showing the more they drink, the lower the risk. Other research shows that compared to not drinking coffee, at least two cups daily can translate to a 25% reduced risk of colon cancer, an 80% drop in liver cirrhosis risk, and nearly half the risk of gallstones.

Coffee even offsets some of the damage caused by other vices, some research indicates. "People who smoke and are heavy drinkers have less heart disease and liver damage when they regularly consume large amounts of coffee compared to those who don't," says DePaulis.

There's also some evidence that coffee may help manage asthma and even control attacks when medication is unavailable, stop a headache, boost mood, and even prevent cavities.

~Coffee in in its liquid form is a complex organic molecule, thus adding many impurities as its processed.
both coffee and tea can be loaded with "Tannins" which are horrid on the system

~The caffeine in coffee tend to raise plasma insulin levels by stimulating the pancreas to do so. Ar least with modern fat burners and teas there are compounds in teas, ala's, and others to blunt or negate this

~Coffee caffeine content fluctuates radically, where its much better to have a fat burner with a predictable amount of it, in it.

Doh, now my coffee doesn't look like a great eye opener. :xeye:

not a big fan of coffee. or caffeine in general. but if anyones tried NOS energy drinks they are INSANE!

I like coffee. I'm a grown ass man that plans on having at least two cups every morning for the rest of my life. I'm currently doing a study where coffee might actually prolong your life.............I'm 90% less likely to stab you after consuming 2 cups.

A buddy of mine said heat "activates" havoc so he drinks coffee with his havoc dose in the morning and he says it fires him right up

I loves me some coffee. I drink about 4 cups a day and have for years. Coffee is a lot like eggs in that for years people said eggs were great, then for years everyone just knew that eggs were a heart attack waiting to happen, now they are good for us again. Same thing with coffee.

People used to say it was bad for you but recent studies suggest its actually good for you in moderation. Like anything it can be over done. 1-4 cups a day and you will most likely be fine, 20-30 a day and you might not.
