Do you usually feel older or younger than you are?

Nathan

For me, I feel 40 most of the time. Not like I'm as mature as a 40 year old but like I've been around for 40 years. I think the depression/alone time and the various stupid/intense situations I threw myself into like an idiot had an impact on how "old" I felt. With each "intense" experience I've gone through, I felt older. And I've always been a spazz so I tend to create such situations for myself - at least more so than most other people I know seem to.

It's weird too cause I think if I had never really done much, I'd feel younger. It's almost as though there are two ages - your technical number and then some sort of descriptor of your experience level. I suppose it's true though that I still do find myself in situations in which I feel like a child. Maybe feeling older is a byproduct of my regular daily surroundings and my perceptions thereof.

I'm removed my pants and am eagerly awaiting your responses.

old for sure. 30+

at 22 i was living with a woman, working all the fuckin time in a very stressful profession and supporting her trying to make "the dream" life for us. that was my life, besides going out and partying occasionally.

now i feel a bit younger that i'm single and trying to enjoy myself, but i'm always the mature one amongst my friends w/ my perspective and decision making for the most part.

i'm probably closer to 30 than i am 24.

yes, the more you experience in your life, especially traumatic or significant. the older you will feel. i've went through alot of shit which made me mature much faster than the average person. i'm still immature in some ways though

Both.

Older b/c I operate differently than most of my peers. A lot of them are still in the college phase with drinking and fucking and trying desperately to impress each other. That ain't my steez.

Younger b/c I could not IMAGINE getting married or having a kid right now. But all these fools are starting the process.

Body wise 40+ (injuries)

Looks wise i look like im 18 years old damn it ( so i have been told)

Maturity wise, im very mature for my age

I feel and act about my age . Maybe got married a little young; but I'm not even TRYING to think about having children anytime soon

How old when you got married? If you don't mind me asking.

i definately feel younger.
I know i act younger too (right, peepeeshoes?)

I still laugh a lot, still get high, workout, laugh and have fun, and something else i can't remember.

You got married at 26 or that is how old you are now? I don't think 26 is too young for girls at all - in fact, I think it's a descent age if the person is amture enough. It depends on the person obviously, but a lot of my female friends are there. No idea if it'll last but they're getting married anyways. The guys tend to be a bit older when it happens - I know I'm not there and I'm 26.

I thought everyone was going to say younger. I bet the trend is as follows more or less:

Younger people tend to say they feel older.
Older people tend to say they feel younger.

I'm not even sure why I started this thread now that I've though about everyone's motivation.

I got married at 23. I did not see this post sorry!!

I think it's a little young ; but I was ready ; no need to wait.

45

I guess I look 45, but in my head I'm much younger..

And I don't think or act like a 45 year old most of the time and often
get looked at by people my age like, "Grow up dude, you're 45"...

I already have that issue. I think it's more of a personality thing though - ever since I was born I've been getting told to act my age.

I always fely older than my age when I was younger because I was very independant and ambitious.

Now I feel much younger, because I'm still playful and my body feels the same as when I was in my twenties. (It may not after the baby is born, though. I'll have to see).

***EDIT*** by saying my body feels the same, I mean that I don't have any aches and pains, etc. I didn't mean that it feels the same when other people rub on it...lol.

You are BY FAR the most guilty of that on here.

That's what I figured people with self-confidence would say.

I knew this thread would be popular - everyone gets to talk about themselves.

I don't think it is a bad thing. It is honest. I had to grow up quickly because I didn't have much of a support system.

Now that I'm in my thirties, though, I wonder where the time went. I still feel like a young pup...lol.

I actually really don't like the feeling. I've hated every birthday after 21. There's really nothing particularly "happy" about it....but it's something I'm working on.

I've never minded birthdays. I just force everyone to tell me that I look too young to be "insert age here." LOL. That always makes me feel good.

I never said it was a bad thing to have self-confidence. All I was saying is that how people answer the question might tell you something about their personality. And then I thought about what I know about each of the people who responded and was like, you know what? The answers to this question will probably make a lot of sense on a person-by-person basis.

I am the only one who said that they felt and acted their age

what do you deduce from that? LOL!!

I think thats pretty normal to feel and act your age. I enjoy being young-ish. Just enough responsibility to have fun, but not so much that life sucks.

Well, I guess it's partly because I sort of missed out on having a normal childhood/youth and each year that passes is a year that pulls me further away from that experience I never had. I'll probably stop feeling that way once I reach a place of satisfaction in my present life.

I missed a normal childhood too.

I remind myself now that I am FREE. The good thing is that now you can do whatever you want. When you were a child you were stuck.

When I was in my early twenties, I used to say "when I finish undergrad, i'll be happy."

I finished but then I said, "when I finish law school, I will be happy."

Then I said, "when I get married, I will be happy."

Then I said, "when I make a certain income i will be happy."

and so on and so on and so on.

If you live life always putting your happiness on hold for some achievement or some event, you will NEVER BE HAPPY.

You have to just learn to be happy in the moment, where you are now and who you are now.

This thread is getting a bit too personal for my liking, and I think someone
needs to look into this Nathan character.. I bet he has Nefarious motives

lol... i was just having this discussion today. my friend asked why i turned out so normal (ha!) after having such a totally odd childhood. I do feel a total sense of satisfaction with my life now, but having an odd growing experience never stopped me from thinking of the good things that came from it, and being happy that i'm different.

I think I turned out pretty ok, considering, lol, and a lot of good definitely did come from it. But the satisfaction part I'm still working on. I only need a couple more pieces to that puzzle, though.

I'm goofy and dorky like a kid but my body feels like it's 90. So there you have it.

My body feels older than I am lately...I've had the worst gym year of my life with injuries, except for the time I had knee surgery. Mentally, I feel younger than I am...I make sure to have some fun now and then, probably moreso than most 33 year-olds. Not having any kids helps with that, no doubt.
