Do you think that Time Travel is possible?

right now i don't think it is possible, i think once we learn how to travel at the speed of light or create some type of black hole, then ill start believing

I don't fully trust the so-called laws of physics, if I'm not mistaken, many things we have taken as fact in physics have proven to be wrong...I think we really know very little about our universe, so I feel time travel is very well possible.

but the basic laws haven't changed. there are updates, but nothing drastic - some of the theories that are discussed would require drastic changes.

I just got home and was flipping throught the newest scientific american and saw they recommend this book:
Time Travel in Einstein's Universe : The Physical Possibilities of Travel Through Time
by J. Richard Gott

he's an astrophysics prof at princeton.
it is now on my wishlist at amazon, which means I'll get it soon enough - I still have like over 50 books I want to read right now... damn having to sleep and work and eat and all that.

Hubble was the one who calculated the recession speed of the
galaxy. It is moving away at a speed of H.

In fact 1/H= AGE OF THE UNIVERSE

This was decades ago.

Further proof of this resides in Background cosmic radiation(roughly
3 Kelvins) which is slowly dimiishing in strength.

This leads credence to the Big-bang theory. Since the radiation released
would have been MASSIVE.

It has taken 15 BILLION years for this radiation to drop to 3K.


Which kind of gives you an inkling as to how truly MASSIVE
that explosion must have been.

The laws of physics as they are now don't allow for time travel, BUT:

The laws of physics can not apply inside a singularity.

Viewing the universe in a 3 dimensional way does not allow us to imagine curvature in space.

If time is merely 1 dimensional or linear, then where is there any evidence that time cannot be bend?

Maybe they do, we just don't know it! They would not go around bragging how they beat the time!
They are too "advanced" for us. When we are interested in competition and fame, maybe they are interested in research and world peace!

And how do you know that UFO's aren't time machines? We can't catch them and we can't shoot em down. They are a perfect "decoy" for time travel tourists. And we think that those are "Alien" spacecraft .

Who is hurt? time tourists are so safe!

Yes it is possible, and yes I just got back from the late 1800's.

Grow up and except the fact that someone else, (like me) did it already. So get used to it. Time is going to be around for a long time.

Big P Bastard----You are upset that people that aren't using technical terms are involving themselves in this thread...Well the thread is called "Do you think time travel is possible"---You and Fonz cant answer it. You said it yourself. So your answer holds on more water then the next guys. Period. This question is a silly question. Its like asking does god exist? It doesn't matter how much you or anyone else has studied the subject, there is no real answer. So anyones answer holds as much water as the next guys.
