Do you know any one with H.I.V. (Aids)?

My whole life I've heard about aids, but it was always been on TV and it was always someone I didn't know. I recentlly found out that someone I work with has aids and that freaked me the fuck out. It freaked me out because this is the closest I've come to knowing someone with the desease and because the guy is so young and looks so normal, but he cannot have a normal life. I guess the dude was pretty hard core into drugs when he was younger and thats how he got it (sharing needles). The real sad part is that he's madly inlove with some chick at work and she was interested in him, after they talked for a bit he told her about his condition. She's still good friends with him and tries to give him support, but there is no chance of anything, other than friendship, happening between them. I cant imagine the pain and loneliness that this desease must bring.
 
My ex's brother died of AIDS a few months ago.. sad, he was young and we used to double date with a friend of mine. That's the first person I've known that had it.

HIV is the virus that causes AIDS
there are many things that HIV can turn into that means the person now has AIDS
like if an HIV person gets tuberculosis or their t-cell count drops too low
some people can HIV for years and years and never know and 10 years it hasn't turned into AIDS yet

HIV is the virus that can cause AIDS if left untreated. A person can have HIV and be completely healthy, but if you've developed the immune deficiency and all the related health woes that's a whole other story.
 
A friend I met through my roomie... he's gay, got it by his former lover who actually knew he had the disease. It was always hard to be around him when he was sick b/c I'd automatically cry for him b/c I knew there was nothing I could do to help. But I've known him for 6 yrs and I've seen the ups & downs he's had to endure. It's a real "cold" disease...but he's got a good outlook on life considering.
 
HIV aids.

Yes, some gone, some still fighting. It takes a bravery most 'fighting' men will never know.
 
I've lost four people close to me to AIDS.
My uncle, his two succesive partners, and my ex- brother in law (long after the divorce.) Everyone in my family turned on them, except my wife and I.
I had to empty their houses and plan their funerals.

I hate this fucking disease with a passion.
 
I had six patients who were either HIV positive or had full blown AIDS. All were under the age of 12 at the time. They all contracted AIDS from their birth mothers. All their mothers either abused drugs, were prostitutes, or heterosexuals who contracted it from high rick sexual behaviors. Once these children were born they were all put up for adoption because of their disease. They were all adopted by a lady and her husband who only adopted AIDS or HIV positive children regardless of their race because no one else would ever adopt them. They had a total over 12 children in their home ranging from several months to ov er 18 years old.

Once I was doing theraphy with one of their children when she picked a scab and later touched me while she had some blood on her finger. I really freaked out although I tried hard not to show it. As a result I got tested every 6 months for almost two years after that incident. I'm scared one of these days I will end up with HIV because of that incident.
 
GF's friend has it. Got raped 6 years ago(first time having sex) and now has full blown AIDS. She has never taken her meds and has been drinking and using drugs ever since. Only recently(3 months) has she gone to treatment and is now trying to extend her life as long as possible.

During her drunken/drug days she was passed out at a party and some guy raped her. I guess he got what he deserved. She doesn't even know who it was to warn him either. probably spreading it around right now.
 
I don't know him, but I know that one dude from Real World had AIDs or some other gay disease.

The guy that got married in the living on his season? I think his name was Pablo. He died a few years ago.

if its been 2 years, you've had 4 clear tests and the blood didnt find its way onto mucous membranes or open skin I'd think you'd be low risk. HIV shows signs of itself around 3 months after infection. It can;t suvive outside thebody for long (matter of hours at best). So if it isnt inside your boy it must be outside it, and if its outside it cant last for long (no tolerance for oxygen)...

thats so harsh man. i wanna take his life. does anyone still talk to Alan Chiras? he is a great guy on the boards. i havent talked to him in awhile. anyone have? i hope hangs in there he is a great guy with alot of knowledge. keep in there Alan!!!!!
 
I met a guy with HIV last week.

He was diagnosed in 2001. Went in for a routine physical and the blood test showed HIV anti-bodies. Said the news fucked him up pretty bad for a few weeks, but since then he's learned it's quite possible to live a "normal life" with the desease.

Anyway, I after meeting him I went in for a full STD screening. Never hurts to be sure, ya know?

Am i reading this right? She got raped once and contracted HIV. then she got fucked up at a party and was raped again? Or did she contract HIV from using drugs and then get raped?

Either way, that's fucked up...Reminds me of that movie KIDS...
