Do you flex your abs when benching?

In the sense that, as with other compound lifts, keeping your body/core tight helps transfer power, I guess it could be said to help. Flexing your abs in particular probably isn't something you should concentrate on doing; if you're keeping your body tight, back arched, contact points solidly set and all that good stuff, it should happen naturally.

If you have a stable foundation (i.e., feet planted, legs driving, shoulders tucked, natural curve of the spine through "chest up" cue) your abs will probably tighten naturally. Don't think too much into anything like this, as it's not necessary.
