Do you believe in Astrology?

You know... do the traits associated with your sun sign actually resemble "you"?

Have you ever looked at the zodiac compatibility chart and found it to be accurate in those you have dated/married?

AAP, I have studied Gnostic Mysticism and some Kabballah in my past, so I believe there is something to Astrology, and I think it does influence our tendencies somewhat.

How about you?

I believe in it 100% (Like I just said in my thread What Kind of Employee are you)
Shameless plug ;-)

blueta, I read that and I am a Saggitarius, actually my bd is tomarrow, and your post was not far off the mark for me.

well happy bday eve :-)
Yeah it was very accurate!

The characteristics describe me to a "T". Plus the compatibility issues for my ex lover were accurate as well. So are the ones for my current one.

Kind of weird though...

I dont think so,No. However I took astrology, oceanogrophy and the likes during my sophmore year and holy hell I got an A+...First and last A my mommy ever saw! Lol

yeap, the characteristics are so accurate for me too. That I believe in, but not the daily or monthly horoscopes the magazines publish

Yeah. this is what I meant.

there is another sign called a sub-sign (I am translating literally from my language, so it might not be accurate). Its the hour+date that you were born. This "sub-sign" influences your origonal one. For example, I am a Leo, but my sub-sign is Cancer, so it makes me not so self-centered, little bit more sensitive etc

i don't.
every time i read something about my sign and think "oh, that's kind of me", i read one of the other signs and think "oh, that's kind of me too".

i could say something general about any of you and if i say 10 traits, some are bound to be true.
i'm a bit of a cynic though. and a realist.

Yes we are going to group personalities together anyways so what is so crazy about saying that these people may be a like based on when they were born? IMO nothing is wrong with that. According to astrology I best match with Sagittarius I am a Leo. I am always found myself attracted to Sagittarius men as well. Also other good matches are suppose to be Libra (true they ground me), Aires (kind of true problem is both stubborn hell), Gemini (kind of true I often find they have multiple personalities which is no surprise there sign is a twin.) Also a good match with another Leo but I have always found when dating another Leo we are fighting for the spot light. LOL

The bullshit astrology in the newspaper, no.

The personality traits associated with sunsigns, absolutely.

Astrology as practiced by people who REALLY know what they're doing, again, definitely. Like any other science/art, it's not infallible, but too many things are too concidental to BE concidental, if you know what I mean.

Astrology, one more thing I need to learn *sigh*

Don't you mean Astronomy and Oceanography?

I think there are similarities between it and reality but I would not base my life on it specifically (ie. stubborn ass). Numerology which is number based is rather interesting as well and which much of it is interpretation (big grey area there) numbers themselves are black and white.

I only realized the strange coincidence with specific birthdates.

My sister and I have birthdays that are 4 days apart (3 years LOL). When I finally became marriage minded again I said that I would like to marry a man like my sister's husband. (Some of his characteristics are very admirable). I dated a man that had a birthdate that was one day after my BIL's birthdate but the timing was off in our lives so we didnt end up together. I MARRIED a man that has his birthdate one day before my brother-in-law's birthdate. Of course the years are far apart but the other similarities are just waaaaay to eerie to be strictly coincidence.

My sister and I are virgo. My brother-in-law and husband are aries.

Anyone believe in Tarot? My tenant does my cards for me once a yr and he is about 95% accurate. He knows squat about me, but will tell me stuff only I would know!
He did tell me I was going to win the lottery in Feb 2004, never did!
His Mom's cards came up the same as mine and she won 1.2 million in the lottery. Damn, I was so PSYCHED in Feb 2004 ;-)

I believe that Tarot and Astrology are real. The problem is all the fakes out there and not necessarily with the "science" (for lack of a better word LOL),

If you get a good reading yes I believe in it. I have had very good readings in the past. A friend of mine was telling me about some he goes to says he is very good just pricey $150 a reading. I used to go with my father when I was younger get my tea leaves read by this older lady she was very good and accurate.

if you look at something vague enough with the intention of equating it to your own life, you will find a match.

150$..wow! too much! If you're ever in Montreal, let me know, I'll send you to see my tenant. He does it for free....I just bring him a bottle of wine. He refuses to take money for it!

i invented a device that keeps meteors away. since i have invented it, not a single meteor has struck me or anyone that lives with me.

i will be selling it to the highest bidder.

Yes...Yes...absofuckinlutely...highly accurate. but you have to get away from the gorcery store astro books and guides...

there has to be something to it, IMO. iam justifying my stance. one of the most intelligent civilzations was based on it...Egyptians.

ok me first. let's see how accurate you are miss cleo.

and i don't hop out of bed in the morning and tackle my horoscope to see how my day is going to pan out....BUT, typically if I get a wild hair and read it....it's usually on the money.

as for significant others.....i will NEVER EVER date a Leo again. but i don't really believe in that stuff, ya know. :worried:

Supertitious mumbo jumbo

My gf has studied numeralogy and astrology for 10 years and believes in both. I believe it's junk science. Does any true scientist believe in this stuff?

I believe in Astrology, Numerology, Tarot, I Ching, etc. A book I recommend is "The Birthday Book", where there is an entry for each day of the year, and the traits, virtues and vices are all listed. I think the entry for my birthday is spot-on.

BTW, women are far more apt to believe in this stuff than men. Because, in general, women are not as rational, sane, objective, ect, as men.

Babe, don't be mad at me if you read this please. I'm not insulting anyone's intelligence. We are all just wired differently. Big kiss.

"Alright alright alright! Hey listen, listen, listen man, I don't know how many of you people believe in astrology, yea thats right, thats right baby, but i am a Saggitarius, the most philosphical of all the signs.

But anyway, i dont beleive in it. I think its a bunch of bullshit myself. But I tell you this man, I tell you this: I dont know whats gonna happen man, but I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames. Alright. Alright!"

"True scientists" also doubt the existance of God. What separates one from the other?

often my daily hororscope is funnier than the comics.

I do, no other sign describes me at all really, but my sign is almost 90% accurate on what it says about me. Trust me, I used to think well I just want to believe it and I'm just seeing stuff not there.

No, it's there. My wife and my two closest friends are Taurus signs, which is what it says I will get along best with.

Astrology, religion, just different brand names for irrational superstition.

I bet the same people who believe in astrology also believe that John Edwards actually talks to your dead great-aunt.

I think Astrology explains a lot about a person's traits. I know my sign is pretty much dead on for me. As far as compatibility... eh, that depends on the individual standing in front of me. My chart claims that I shouldn't be compatible with Taurus, but most of the guy friends I have are Taurus.

Hey sexay! I'm trying to show my face around here more often, but the Jr. High drama scares me. :worried:

i too believe in mystical and magical things i can have some computer test message me on my phone.

hell, i live my life by it.

I don't know. I think it is naive to write off the field because we are learning so much about how reality works everyday (had you told people 400 years ago that microscopic life forms caused disease or that you can stop time by traveling at light speed they'd have laughed at you), but when I read my astrology sign (cancer) I think it sounds a little like me, then I'll read another like libra or capricorn and think the same thing. I have no idea myself.

You are stubborn, sometimes to a fault. You need to watch this, as it has affected your personal life in both good and bad ways.
You depend on the opinions of others too much. You need to break free from this way of thinking because it sometimes upsets and worries you.
There is a person who has passed on who looks over you. a man. he had a nickname for you and once in a while you hear it- that's him, giving you a sign.
in february, you will learn something new that will advance your career.
in june, someone you know will become ill.
you have some regrets that bother you in the middle of the night. stop worrying about them.
also, you're a ho.

I believe in plam and foot reating too... this is kinda coinkinkinki: I had my palm read when I was 22.. okay whatever... life goes on, I had my foot read about 5 years later... by a different guy, he came up with the same stuff as the palm guy. ???? huh??? freaked me out!!!!
Then I had my chart done last year and it was pretty right on, he covered every aspect of my life in detail and came up with some things that blew me away, things I don't tell people about... some of which the friggin palm and foot guy came up with too.... so yeah, I believe.

Science and religion are diametrically opposed, are they not?

No. Only when people try to make them so. I think when they conflict sometimes because scientists are still learning and still do not have all the answers yet to explain everything "supernatural" which does not mean there is no scientific explination, only that we do not fully comprehend the answer yet. Or, when people take too seriously parables within their religion and they conflict with known science. Ei all humans coming from only two individuals (we know the excessive inbreeding would cause extinction in just a few generations) or the idea of a global flood covering the entire earth four thousand years ago, and the limited number of animals (2 of every unclean and 7 of every clean if you read the Bible) being able to sustain a population any length of time.

Science and religion only come into conflict when someone tries to push either one too far to the point of stupid close-mindedness.

What kind of "supernatural" things require explanation? Can they be demonstrated in a repeatable manner?

BIKINIMOM said:

Too many people take that stance. If you take an objective look at science from a religious perspective, any true, open-minded, scientist would see just how intimately the two are intertwined. They don't have to oppose each other at all. Unfortunately, most people still view the two perspectives as opposing...
