Do you aspirate when injecting in shoulder?

Do you aspirate when injecting in shoulder? I read somewhere that some guys don't aspirate when. They inject in their delts, I kind of let the issue slide until recently I watched a video on YouTube where a doctor was injecting test into a guys shoulder and he didnt aspirate. Any clarification would be great. Thanks guys.

Dude I am not trying to sound ignorant but I never aspirate... Know a hand full of nurses that don't and we're taught not to.. One of those nurses does my injections and I've never had a problem.. But I guess they are right better safe than sorry.

I personally never aspirate at all! My wife Is a registered Nurse and told me not to aspirate , if it happens to hit a blood vessel the alcohol pad takes care of it in less than a minute. That's just me btw
I'm currently pinning eod and haven't aspirated once .

i never aspirate.. you can nail blood on the way out so there is no point.. i used to aspirate and there would be no blood, then i would pull out and blood would gush, go figure.

yes the proper procedure is to aspirate but if you are injecting 2 or 3 ml aspirating may not work anyway

The need to aspirate is a myth. I've had many legit injections from medical professionals and never had even one of them aspirate. I've self injected in the many hundreds of times and never aspirated. If I added the number of people I know that self inject (that don't aspirate) we're talking 10's of 1000's of injections and I have never heard of anybody having a problem. You could aspirate, draw no blood and have still lacerated a vein and as was stated, you could just as easily clip on on the withdrawal. Aspirating makes zero difference in the safety of an injection in my opinion.

I have never done it in over 20 yrs ...so go figure!

BUT! I will say this......you learn by doing things properly!

If you don't know what you're doing ,thats when problems occur!
