keep in mind, i am computer challenged at best.....

i finally bought my first lap top. my home computer dates back to 1998.

now my dig camera won't work with the new lap top....it's a sony camera that uses a floppy disk.

the new lap top has no port (correct term?) for inserting a floppy disk, as my ancient desk top machine does.

HOW DO I EMIAL DIGITIAL PICS NOW?

is there an adaptor available?

or do i bite the bullet and buy a new digital camera?

There has to be an adapter (usb) that is compatable with your old dig. camera and your new laptop.
What's the make of your Sony Camera and what year is it?

You can get a digital camera with higher resolution than your current one for less. 0.3 Megapixels is way out of date. They make key chain cameras with higher resolution.

yes, understand....time & technology marches on!

BUT....

this one still works and i am a federal civil service time sufferer employee....between old houses and old cars the discretionary funds account is small.

You can get a USB connection that fits the camera and the puter or you can get one of those above that QT pointed out. For the amount of money you'll spend on getting those, you could almost get a new camera with up to date attachments though.

gotta be better than what you have now. right?? You can pick one up for around that price, yes!!

Tell ya what I did...I priced them and at the time, I was on a budget. I only had x amount of dollars to spend on one. The one I got sold for around $170. I picked it up for $80 at a pawn shop. It was brand new. Still in the original box with all the paperwork. Its a digital camera and recorder in one. I love it. Never has given me any problems and takes awesome pics. You should check into that.

a usb cable costs $10......get a cable , your old camera is fine for now until you get the funds for a new one.

Desperate people go there with very nice things and sell them for pennys on the dollar. I took advantage of it when I bought my camera.

His old camera is pre-USB. It uses a floppy disk for storage media and has no USB port.

i've been checking out used dig cams on ebay.....what's a memory card? some used cams mention "no memory card included".

Memory cards are flash media, like CompactFlash, Smart Media, MemoryStick, SD, and XD. Different cameras use different flash media. You can get most of them from 16MB up to 1GB. Older cameras will probably use SmartMedia or Compact Flash.

oh.

keeping in mind i am 'puter stoopid......do i need a memory card for a used camera to work?

Take the camera model and open a new browser, google the model number and the word review. One of the top links should give you a lot of specifics about the camera and how well it was received when it was first brought out.

I'm thinking of buying a used Konika or Minolta Digital SLR so I can use lenses from my 35 film SLR with it. A lot of people are dropping the 7MP cameras for 8-12 MP digital SLR's
