Diet to help a preteen loose some fat

We only have fruit in our house for snacks. I will keep y'all posted. The kid has genetics that could make him a real competitive bb or hell of a football player if he wanted. His uncle was in the military and now a cop guy is like 6'5" 300lbs around 7% bf with no gear. He said he wants to be like him, that's a long road.
