Diet soda

I have heard that all diet sodas have a chemical that binds to your fat cells making them not burnable. I love diet soda, but in order to loose weight can I still drink it or will I have to go on water alone?? 0 carbs, 0 cals only 55 mg of sodium. If prompted I could drink a 12 pack every day. Everyone says drink as much LIQUID as possible. If that liquid can be a diet soda great, other wise its back to crystal light and plain water.

I've read and been told to drink at least a gallon of water a day... at my bodyweight (230lbs or so) I need to drink 2 gallons of water a day. So if I drank 3 pops in one day, I'd still have to drink the 2 gallons of water. That's how I've done it... but with all the phenlphylane in pop and with the water you'll be drinking... you'll be on the pisser alot. :)

NewGuy,
There seems to be a lot of different views about aspartame. I too used to be hooked on those damn diet sodas, up to a 2 liter a day (Mmmm, diet Pepsi). From my personal experiences, I can only say; diet sodas + keto diet = bad idea. The popular view is that diet sodas can kick you out of ketosis, while others say no, ‘it only causes an insulin spike’ and during a no/low carb diet an insuline spike can cause dizziness. If your on a keto diet and aren’t getting the results, CUT THE DIET SODA! Hope this helps, Timma!

I like this thread.......the nutrasweet in sodas of the past was so powerful to the insulin spike effect that it was told that it was actually a lot sweeter to the body than regular sugar....the diet sodas tell the body a ton of sugar is coming so be ready then it never comes........I wish I could better remember the article but I do remember the tone of the passage and it wasn't positive to say the least.

I don't think there is anything in nutrasweet products that make fat unburnable. I think that water is a better choice because all that carbonation has got to mess with the uptake of protein in the gastrointestinal tract. Good luck.

"Cut the fizzy drinks out all together, stick to water and milk."

Milk??? yeah, lactose is loved by your body, let me tell you.........you drink milk while dieting you will get the same bloating/fat-retaining effects as you would by eating ice cream. Your body has a friend named "Lac-Operon" it is designed to metabolize lactose but its DEACTIVATED when there is glucose in your system, so the lactose will not be metabolised very efficiently and will be stored as fat fat fat..........did i say fat???

BTW, diet drinks are fine when dieting, although drinking just water is better.
