Did anyone notice fat GAIN with regular ALA?

I remember a LONG TIME AGO taking regular ALA (not r-ala) and seeming to actually get some pudge increase in my mid section. I was taking I believe 3g's a day, spread out. I've never tried the racemic version. I also read in a post here after searching, that it would seem regular ALA increases insulin sensitivity, while r-ala decreases it? So in effect ALA increases your blood sugar level while r-ala decreases it? Or do I have it backwards or extremely wrong. LOL. Wow it's been a long time since I've been back here. I was thinking of slamming some regular ALA today with my Thanksgiving dinner in hopes it might dispose of some of the excess carbs faster. If it's exactly the opposite, then hell, that's what I don't want.

Because you have to use so much ALA to get any benefit you run the risk of it having the opposite affect. ANY anti-oxidant at high doses becomes PRO-oxidant.

What sort of dosages for common stuff like R-ALA or ALA or the antioxidant vitamins are we talking about to make them pro-oxidant?

Also does stuff like green tea, grape seed extract or other related polyphenols & proanthocyanidins have this reaction too at higher doses?

Thanks for any help....

In me ALA makes me crave carbs and water goes up. But i actually didn't gain from it i felt like it helped digestion...

KR-ALA and Regular ALA are supposed to help with an insulin spike. Supposedly it will help push more protein through muscles. You have to take a lot of simple carbs and a lot of protein with it. I know GlucophaseXR by Designer Supplements (KR-ALA) is an insulin mimicker and is ran exactly like slin. The thing is though you cant have fat with it otherwise it will push fat into your muscles, that may be how you are getting pudge. Remember ALA is very unstable and so is R-ALA its when they add potassium to it, it then is stable.

You shouldn't even use ALA. Glucorell R is dosed 1 cap for every 30 grams of carbs in a meal just prior to eating.

I don't know what the top end dosing is of those others.
