Denver has record cold snap.....

Been cold as velvet for several days now. Went to -13 yesterday and beat a 126 year old record (for Feb 18th) by 10 degrees.


What made it interesting is that I keep water in an outdoor fountain attached to my house. The bulbs stay on and I put a small heater in it. Plus I added a hella lot of calcium and magnesium chloride (de-icing agents).

It worked, the fountain kept going and the ice din't get hard enough to bust the aluminum tank.

Fountains just look dead without running water....adds to the desolate feeling of winter.

-13 is a bit chilly. Even the Canucks would likely stay inside a bit more.
