Just wondering if any of you guys ever heard of someone tearing their pec from decline bench or DB presses? I completly cut flat bench from my chest routine, mainly outta sheer fear of tearing my pec again.
same thing happened to me about 1 year and a half ago from doing heavy dumbell press. havent had a problem since, just work them and they will get stronger. my chest exercises consist of 3 sets flat bench 3 sets incline bench and 3 sets decline bench. i go 2 weeks with barbell, next 2 weeks with dumbells and they rotate in that order. hope this helps.
Most tears based on experience come from Flat bench based on the actual mechanics of the movement.
Decline and Inclines tend to be better if done right since the mechanics are more favorable to the function of the pectorals in those particular movments.
I had a pec tear lat year and you cant even tell I ever had one
my routine is:
1)Machine Bench Press ( never go below 10 reps)
2)Low cable flys, 3 sets ( mostly for stretch)
3)Heavy inlcine Barbell press ( but I dont go below 8 controlled reps and never break parallel on elbows)
4)Cable flys done ina way really flex that pec reagion and engorge it with blood( I focus on cotractions)
My pec tear was surgically repaired about 2 years ago,...what a pain in a ass it was with the rehab and what not. I hope to never go through that again.
