So... I quit my job due to some crazy things... not going into them here...

But I have two opportunities and don't know which one to take.

I can stay in this oilfield drafting and design work or move on to a job I was offered to run a business for a friend of mine. It would be something I've never done before... very different. Thing is... its a new company but doing quite well already and he doesn't have the time to attend to it so he asked me to take over for him. Pay is good, better than what I was making at my previous employer but with no benifits.

I like change, but I love drafting and design it is my passion. Drafting and Design is what I excel at and I know I am good at.

Gosh... what do I do... what do I do?
And then this damn house... omg! Too damn big. Stress! Took a damn forklift to get half my furniture in it and now looking to get out of it. My Ghost just won't leave me alone. Yea Yea... I am sure you think I'm nuts with the Ghost thing, but no shitting you... I am serious.

This house was from the Civil War, No telling how many people died in this home. Doors open and close, I wake with bruises and cuts... its quite freaky. Maybe I'm going crazy, but I thought I was already crazy so thats out of the question... LOL

Work for a temp agency, if your good enough you can work from home on almost all the projects. Good money if you have experiance.

Silk screening, emb... but also doing accounting, his collections etc. Pay is great but not sure if thats what I'm cut out for.

The other job I am looking at would put me in the field, doing as built drawings... some travel to measure equipment etc... That is my thing but the pay is not as good. I have this huge freaking house to pay for (which i want to get out of but right now can't ) so it's a question of money or something I love. I seriously only live in half of this house... the other half I don't even use. Waste of space! But Matilda (My Ghost... She lives in the other half... LOL)

Have you talked to the ghosts? Tell them your getting annoyed and there needs to be some rules to spookiness.

"DON'T MAKE ME TAKE AWAY ALL THE DOORS". "I'll burn them in the back yard if you keep making noise while I'm sleeping." You must be firm with them, they like guidance.

Well... I've told it/her/he that enough is enough. I have been ignoring it and that seems to work better. I have three huge bruises on my lat about 4" long and 2" wide. Nice... and thats just a bit of what I get. I'm not scared, just irritated. Door opens and slams shut and I ignore it. More attention you give more attention they want.

No shitting you... woke from a dead sleep a few nights ago went to the restroom and on the way back had a face right in front of me when I walked out the restroom. Like to piss my pants at first but then just began bitching (I'm good at that) and it went away. Maybe its my crazy imagination working or its really something lingering here in this house... I don't know. It only happens to me, not my kids... not guests, just me.

Its lightened up alot since I've been here though. I don't wake with as many bruises or cuts. Hopefully it's warming up to me... hell I'm paying the damn bills here. LOL

how do you go about finding out the history of your home? I am running into dead ends.

I talked to the owner of the home and he told me it was here for the civil war and he lived in the area where I am and also heard things, but can't find a damn thing online or in records.

Does the new job offer high rewards for your high risk?

If not, pass on it. If so, stocks, rewards, perks, etc. - It might be worth it.

Sit down and write pros and cons and be neutral. New opportunities are great, but not if they are not planned out well. Most new companies are not.

And since you have that house, etc. (sigh) - you're options on taking risks in life get more limited. (These are the crazy risks people should take when they're 23).

In that case - you may desire the job security matched with happiness. Personally I'd take that.

only attraction to this job is something different and more money... no perks at all. I like challenge, something different every now and again but don't know if its worth the risk. I am well established in the design and drafting field down here. I've made my name and I'm good at what I do... BUT being a woman I tend to get limited to behind the desk... blah. I want field work I want to get out of the office and do more.

I am waiting for the offer from the other company, if they allow me to go into the field and get out of the office its no contest... i'm taking it. Otherwise, I guess i'll just venture on and do this design work in my personal business contract.

"There are no risks in life ... if you do your due diligence and know what you're doing"

Few people wanna do the latter.

Remember to be neutral and not swayed by emotion. Be in a position that whether you accept or not accept it - you are content either way.

If not - your judgment is clouded; and you should have someone else help you on the decision.

Im at a crossroads right now as well with regards to career, etc and a lot of change on the horizon so I know how you feel. but my change involves move to NY, move to chicago, or stay put here in MD. wtf?

ive lived in chicago area almost my entire life, so there's that
and NY would be actually westchester county which is near to where my parents are now in fairfield county and i also lived there for some years in HS but my parents are there only for another year or so and they are heading back to chicago, so probably chicago it is.
 
If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life..

just a thought, many people go their entire lives not knowing what they are good at, or enjoy doing..

running a business is many different things, managing people, environments etc, it can be a lot of fun..

just depends.. good luck..

He is working on benifit's etc... not quite there yet, but the money is great. I was offered jobs in other states, but I just refuse to leave here because of my kids.
