I see you mentioned that you are elite for your bodyweight in the deadlift, I've seen that chart before and cannot find it. The chart shows strength levels for different bw's and says beginner, novice, excellent, elite, etc....

Can you post it up?

Actually "elite" is specified by your total, not a single lift, you cant be elite by deadlifting alot or benching alot. This is the chart you are looking for, multiply # by 2.2046 for lbs.

Well, pretty good day again, had my mind set on 600 all week and I pulled that off. my elbows feel like shit though, especially after the pushdowns. I was planning on doing more but they really flared up towards the end.
 
6/9 Monday

This is the last week im going to be training heavy, 3 weeks out yesterday, so im going to start winding down. This workout was going to be brutal and i was psyching myself up for it all day, seemed to work pretty good...

I'd love to see it too. I have 2 pair of 90 lbs chain (45 lbs each single chain), and one pair totalling 55 lbs that I like to use on overhead presses, squats, and deadlifts. Bands seem to eat at my wrists, elbows, and shoulders a little too much but chains seem to work great. I bet I could lighten the bands quite a bit and add the chains and it would lessen the stress some?
 
yeah, bands seem to bother everyone, they get to my elbows after a while. if you used a set of micro mini bands which are only like 30lbs at the top of your benchpress and then added a set or two of chains it would be alot more stable and probably not bother your joints as much. check these out only 5 bucks a piece http://www.flexcart.com/members/elitefts/default.asp?m=PD&cid=138&pid=2729

took first in my weight class, i had the third best total pound for pound in the heavyweights (198-shw). The two that beat me are both national and world champions so im not upset about losing that :)

OK so this past Sunday i had a big meet and i did really well, though i missed out on a world record in the open 220 class in that particular federation. I set a 33lb comp pr in squat and 28lb comp pr in the bench, but my deadlift fell way short. I pulled 705 in the last meet i did, and i was stronger this time, it came off the floor alot faster than the last time i pulled it, but at my thighs my grip started to fail because i was tearing the calluses off my left hand. I took a second shot at it and got it even higher (big sign i had alot more in the tank if only my grip didnt fail me) but i just couldnt hang on. You can tell in the videos that im pretty pissed because a few other things went wrong in the way the meet was run leading up to these attempts too, but in the end I couldnt lock it out, no excuses. My hand was a bloody mess for two days, but its healing ok now lol.

Squats
Warming up i feel good, no back spasms or tightness, made sure i was extremely hydrated and had plenty of potassium flowing. Started with 225x3, 315x3, and went and put my suit on. Did 405x3, 495x2, and finally 575 for a single. Everyone helping said i was spot on and the 575 was stupid fast.

1st.639 Squat Video good squat 3 whites
2nd.677 Squat Video i got reds for depth, no good. I was right at parallel but they werent calling anything good unless it was deep. Lost my concentration a little too cause i clipped the rack on the walkout, made me stumble a little.
3rd.694 Squat Video I opted to go with something close to my 2nd attempt because i needed to get something better than 639 in. I played it a little too safe, but atleast i got a good lift in. This really wasnt too heavy, i had 720ish in me....next time :evil:

Again im feeling good, no pain at all thankfully. Usually after squats my back is pretty tight but i was good and loose. Warmed up with 135x5, 225x3, 275x3, 315x3 and then shirted up. Took 405 to a 3 board for 5, 455 to a 1 board for 1, then last 475 to a 2 board for 1. The 475 was very fast and felt perfect.

1st.496 Bench Video smoked, very light
2nd.518 Bench Video again felt light, but i got reds because i touched below my sternum, which is illegal, no "belly benching"
3rd.529 Bench Video OMG that felt sooo good, felt just like my opener. I could have gone 545-550ish, but like my squat 3rd attempt, i played it safe because my 2nd attempt was no good.

Deadlifts
Now this is were it gets ugly. A few things went wrong, but the main thing was the meet directors were going to give us a 15min break between flights. So we have about 20mins to go till our first attempts, i still have several warmups to hit, and then the director comes in and says there will be no break!!!!!! Warmed up with 225x3, 315x3, 405x3, 495x2, 545x1 605x1 So i hit my last three warmups in about 4-5 minutes and have to run to the lifter area. I got there just in time to hit my first attempt. I literally had 2 minutes to rest from the time i pulled 605 to the time i pulled my opener. You can visibly see how pissed I was after the 661 cause it obviously felt like shit.

1st.661 Dead Video felt like crap but it was good
2nd.705 Dead Video fuck you calluses
3rd.705 dead 2nd attempt Video fucking retarded reason to miss a lift, i cant even watch this i get sooo pissed. My grip has never been an issue but it is now obviously. By my next meet i will be doing static holds with 800+ mark my words.

Totaled 1884 at 216lbs, great lifting for the most part but damnit i wanted 1900+ and that WR. I cant complain with a pr in two out of three lifts and winning my weightclass against some great competitors.

I must say that it's hard to type with my jaw on the keyboard, but holy hell IMPRESSIVE!! 705 dead??? Elite is right. I only hope I can get strong enough to compete at that level in the future.

Bummer on the 705 pulls. Getting it off the floor was the battle and that looked easier than your previous meet. Its too bad a little thing like grip got in the way.

Can you wear gloves?

I have reached a point where I am losing grip on deads. Its funny how you can be ok and then you cross a line and then can't hold on and it gets in the way of your workouts. I have never used straps and don't want to start. Farmers walks just got added to my back workouts.

thanks buddy. yeah it did come off the floor pretty easily compared to last time, just wasnt my day i guess. No you cant wear gloves and they would hurt more than help i would think. Im going to get some different tools soon for working my grip so this wont be an issue again.
 
well ive been back in the gym for the last week and a half, got to try and get this updated. Ive throttled way down on the weight and intensity, my body really needs a break. Im switching over to more bodybuilding style workouts, i want to lose some fat and see how my body responds to the different training. Its been years since ive done isolation and high rep sets.

I used to lift heavy always also. I recently switched to a hypertrophy type program. 3 minute rest for multi joint exercises around 10 reps and 1-2 minute rest for single joint exercises at 12-15 reps. Its actually working better than I thought. I actually increased my bench. I do 4 sets of 10 with a 3 minute rest. I finished with 250 for 10 last time I benched I felt so good afterwards I hit a PR at 335 and it felt I had at least 10lbs more in me. My arms have increased around 1/4 inch also, I superset bis and tris together and its been working well. Good Luck!

haha ya unfortunately thats what I have been doing. my bench is down a solid 30-40lbs, squat and dealift both down about 80-90lbs. Ive been slacking big time but im getting it together now. Dont laugh when i post my workout from tonight ok lol

I missed two attempts at my last meet for a world record deadlift because of my grip. Im making sure that will be completely taken out of the picture in the future. Hopefully plate pinches and some static holds every week will strengthen my grip to where it needs to be.

Hey Dave we always here about your lifting routines, but whats the routine in the kitchen?

when im training hard for a meet and really trying to pack on mass and get strong this is pretty much it... oatmeal, eggs, cottage cheese, beef, pork, chicken, pasta, potatoes, milk, cheese, peanutbutter, pb&j sandwiches, and some icecream or cookies here and there. I also keep boxes of snacks in my car and at work so i can eat all the time, usually Little Debbie Oatmeal pies.

I lost 20lbs with my first serious relationship break-up, it was a ugly thing to be seen, but fuck that you will be laughing at this years from now, at your age there are higher purposes but it makes us feel good knowing there is someone who cares about us doesn't it?

yeah im done with straps i gotta get my grip up to speed, ive been using some heavy grippers from prowriststraps for a couple weeks now and its already making a difference.

no updates to speak of right now. im taking this week off cause im doing a small local meet this sunday so im resting up. im not expecting much, by my standards, and i really shouldnt as ive been in my bench shirt twice for the last 5 months and only been back training heavy for like 4 weeks. The meet is only a push pull (bench deadlift), im thinking of opening with 473lbs (215kg) on bench and 628lbs (285kg) on deadlift. Ill let you all know how i make out, hopefully i get some vids taken to post up.

meh... meet went ok, i performed how i thought i would training for 4-5weeks heavy for this comp. ended up pulling 644, missed 677. Bench i smoked 473, but got 3 reds cause they said i touched too low below sternum, yeah whatever my bench groove has been the same for like 4 years. Second i went 496 and touched high to avoid reds, but being ot of my groove i couldnt lock out the weight. So i had to stay at 496 to not bomb out, i touched in my normal spot (same one that got me reds first time) and smoked it, and got 3 whites lol. weighted in at a MASSIVE 200.8lbs lol, should have went #1 and #2 first, i would have been 198. my push pull total was 1140, not bad for 4 weeks training and barely 200lbs. Best lifter and beat 5 other 220's for first place. i needtogetmyassingear and start training/eating hard again. also i was taking 50mg of drol for 4 weeks up to this meet and i will never EVER take drol again, complete garbage, bp was elevated instantly, headache all day long, and my appetite was non-existent. not to mention i didnt really gain anything from it, maybe some strength but nothing great.

a couple good things that came out of this meet are i know my grip work is really paying off now cause the 677 didnt budge in my hands, felt like holding 500. and 2 just another meet under my belt now, probably over 15 comps now ive done, so the experience is building.

Im doing hardly any assistance work right now. Getting back to squatting/benching heavy twice a week AND deadlifting heavy once a week is really tough. heavier sets are getting much easier like they should, its a good way for me to gauge my progress. If the movements are getting easier the more sets I do i know my body is getting used to the volume.

eating like 5k roughly, going to step it up alot in the next few weeks. Im competing again the end of march so i need to start packing some mass back on. And ill start shooting some more vids, as soon as i start lifting heavy again :evil: havent really been doing anything worth posting for a while
