I'd also say that 90% of the people I have known to do this were female. I probably find it even more loathsome when a guy tries to stick out a terrible situation, since it is typically easier for men to break emotional attachments.
And how is it polite to lead someone on by saying that you're settling for someone else than dating them? That's actually about as cruel a thing as I can imagine. Or maybe I'm just so blatantly honest in life that I don't consider anything but a straight forward "I'm not interested" statement.
I also just can't grasp why people are so afraid to be alone for any lenth of time. I personally really enjoy it.

I don't know of very many females who realized they were settling (because they were too young to think more of themselves) at the time and I dont know of ANY that would say this to a guy over dinner that only wanted to fuck them if that woman allowed it other than to try to not bruise his delicate ego. I mean, YOU KNOW you aren't going to go to bed with the guy so why not make him *think* he had a chance if things were different (which they are NOT). It may not be 100% honest but there are many women who feel that to be THAT DIRECT, especially with a man who already knows you are into someone else but wont take no for an answer anyway (happened to me a few weeks before I married. I told the guy STRAIGHT UP - I am marrying the Old Grump but that didnt stop him from trying LMFAO and we are BIG TIME GROWN). Why not massage his ego a bit? If it gets him off your cock then what is the harm, right?
I agree, that settling just to avoid being alone isn't fair to either of the parties. That is why I waited so long and dated so many before I even *thought* to remarry.
And I was not the only woman to automatically assume this about the situation as the thread proved out.
...WE could be totally off, but then again so could the men. What difference does it make in the grand scheme of things? KB was rejected by yet another *chickenhead*.
