Customs coming in from a cruise?

Anyone ever tried this route?

Thinking about cruising this coming summer and wondered how things are different coming back in from a cruise versus air or ground?

Anyone ever have any luck?

I'll do it next time I go. I went on a cruise last Feb and they didn't search anything. They unload all your bags into a warehouse type building and it's coordinated with your color ticket. Then you go pick up your bags and leave. There wasn't even anyone checking to make sure you had "your" bag and not someone else's as you left.

Bottom line is those cruise ships have limited time to get off all the luggage, clean the ship and then get on the next set of passengers as this usually happens on the same day.

Thanks for the info guys!

But.. surely there is some sort of federalized customs process you must go through if your cruise ship has even visited foreign countries... or am I way off?

Please advise!c

i think there was supposed to be some sort of customs last time i cruised out of US. they made all the non-americans get off and go through customs first. they had trouble finding a few of the people and we were all delayed an hour or 2. so basically when we go off the ship and picked up our bags, they were just tryin to get rid of us fast as possible. grabbed bags and got in car.

getting back on board from wherever you vacationed may require some creative deception depending on what and how much you get. they put everything through an xray machine and metal detectors.

Ohh... there ya go! You mean everytime you come back onboard from a resort town, you're basically searched for what you bring back onto the ship????

I came back on board with all my gear in a bag didnt even try to hide anything and it went through the x ray machine and No -one said a thing. I saw many people bringing back all kinds of products, customs is nealrly non-exsistent you will see for yourself.

about customs.....

guys i have been on 5 cruises by now and i have to say that you just think they arent watching you.. ive seen a total of 7 people be arrested from the cruises ive been on when leavin with our luggage. youll never know that they know about your shit. the thing about steroids though is dogs dont smell em right? but if they did have dogs that could smell they just wait for you to pick up your bags and then they politely ask you to come with them. seen it happen too many times now. now they will never open your bags bc that would take too long, but also at the airport i was stopped and searched 4 times from point A to point B. and thats when they opened my bags. i was so close to buyin gear out there bc the pharmacies dont care but im glad i didnt bc like i said i was stopped all of those times. all in all if its a drug that cant be sniffed then go for it but watch out at the airports. good luck bro

we went on a cruise last year right after 911 and as most report above, customs is almost non-existent. When returning to the usa, your bags are all sorted ina large warehouse s[ace, I did see customs dogs going thru but saw no one getting stopped and searched, basically just showed your passsport or id and walked thru.
