Creatine and Protein

Hello,
I'm 22 years old. I used to workout a lot last year. Then I stopped and I lost a lot of my strenght. Now, I'm starting it up again and I've been taking 100% whey protein for about 2-3 weeks now. I take it in the morning then I take it again after workouts. I see some improvement and now I'm thinking about taking creatine. What is a good brand of creatine to buy and how should I work it in with the use of the protein? Any suggestions?

Take it just after you work out with juice. Always have a protien rich meal or shake after you work out also.

More imprtant than the creatine is protien intake. Your money will be better spent buying alot of chicken and beef tonight, imo.

How much protien are you eating a day right now?

Carbs with the protien will be better than just 100% protien.

I'm taking the 100% whey right now. I take about a glass of milk with a scoop of it in the morning. ANd i drink a bottle of water with 2 scoops of it after I workout.

So you're saying that I should just taking creatine and protein both after working out?

Also, what kind of creatine should I get? How is cell-tech?

Yes, the creatine should be taken after you work out. You deffinatly need protein after you work out also.

I liked "Creatine Serum" by Muscle Marketing. (Liquid) I like it better then powder. They suggest the liquid be taken before your work out. Cell-Tech is desent and is suppose to be taken after you work out do to the insulen spiking bla, bla, bla

Protein is king, you need it all day. You may already know that, but I need to stress that it is more important then creatine. If you don't have your diet in check, creatine will only do so much.

Good Luck

Would you recommend a schedule I should follow for a few weeks about when to take the protein and creatine? I just want to make sure I get this right and I have never done this before so I want some guidelines. Also, I just saw that cell-tech is expensive. I want something thats decently priced and is also a good brand. Any more recommendations? And if I don't get cell-tech what should I mix with the creatine?

or should i take prolab creatine? Does that also have dextrose in it? If it does now Im debating on either optimum or prolab creatine

in my opinion cell tech is wasting your money. take some pure whey right after you work out. and before you hit the sack at night.

most people use creatine right after you work out and right when you wake up on non lifting days.

i have tried 3 different creatines so far.

vitargo cgl (sugarless)
cell tech
eas phosphagen HP

i like the last one the best so far and its cheap.

www.netrition.com has been great to me as far as supplements ...check it out.

anymore questions feel free to email me

yes, EAS phosphagen HP is the shitttt no doubt from all the choices above

i've been cycling with EAS and TwinLab Aminos for over 2 year back in the days and would recommend this combo for a beginner.....

Ok. I just ordered the EAS. But now I'm wondering how I'm suppose to take it in junction with the creatine. Can someone give me a daily guideline on how I'm suppose to take creatine and protein at the same time? I'm still confused about that.

Are you kidding me!
O.K.
1. Phosphagen HP contains creatine.
2. Take it exactly how the label sugests. (just to make it simple) Let me repeat... Take it exactly how the label sugests. Easy right?
3. You need some source of protien in every meal to grow. 5 to 6 meals a day about 3 hours apart.
4. You may or may not take them together. It really doesn't matter. You need protien right after you workout and if the label of the Phosphagen suggests that you take it right after you workout, then take them together. You can mix them in one drink or one right after the other.

Got it. The reason i'm harping on the protien so much is because it is so much more important then the creatine. Protien is what muscles are made of. You seem so fixated on the creatine. It's not a magic potion.

Good Luck,

Dude why don't you do a search before you keep on asking stupid questions. There must be 1000+ posts asking the same question. And no matter what anybody tells you: NEVER buy Cell-tech or Creatine Serum. You'll get gains on any creatine if it works for you. I personally like AST's Micronized Creatine mixed with dextrose (which you can get from your local health food store, AKA glucose/corn syrup).

T Bone said it best, everyone thinks creatine is a magic potion, if anything protein is your magic potion and you should take lots of it! get 2 g of protein per bodyweight for a month, then up it to 2.5g the next month, and then if you really want to see strengh go 3 g the next month. If you insist on taking creatine i would go with V12 by SAN, its the shit man.

sorry guys I am not some body building pros like you all. And serioiusly I did try to search before I did try to ask my 'stupid' question. show me one freaking post that talks about taking protein and creatine at the same time. I saw nothing I was looking for. I just wanted to be sure about something before I take it. I am already taking protein so I already know how it works thats why I'm not asking about it. You guys may have big muscles and shit but they ain't as big as your freaking egos. Thanks for all the help

i think the dude was really tryina to ask if its ok to take creatine and protein at the same time or split them up.

here's what I do:

immediately after workout:

creatine + some type of simple carbs (be it already mixed with it, or gatorade or whatever....dextrose seems to be the prefered )

about 15 minutes later - protein shake.

very simple.

i personally love the phosphagen - it tastes great...the optimum stuff looks like a good deal too.

Kinda scared to ask this now coz I dont want to get flamed again for being a newbie. But if I'm not trying to be a body builder do I need to do the loading phase? I just want to get a lil bigger but not really that big.

Sorry kid, i thought i, or one of us made it clear that you could take them together or not, doesn't really matter. They can be taken together or do it like jerkbox sugested.

Anyway, i think the loading phase is crap, but if you want, do it for a couple of days but for a whole week... i think it's a ploy to sell more. Don't worry, just because you do the loading phase, doesn't mean you will blow up like Nasser.

Just find what works for you. Just get some creatine in your body once a day after you work out and see how you like it. Everyone is different.

Nothing you do with this stuff will make such dramatic changes to your bady that you wont be able live with yourself.

Think of the taste, I know if you mix cell tech (comes in flavours like Grape, Lemon and lime) with a flavoured whey protein shake, it's going to be rancid taste. Been there tried that and still remember the taste of grape flavoured cell tech and vanilla flavoured whey protein shake mixed together, it was some kind of sick.

I do as someone else does, creatine/simple sugars drink then about 5 minutes after a protein shake, that's right after a work out.

5g creatine 30 min before workout with some carbs (shake, sandwhich), then 5g creatine immediately after workout with carbs (shake, sandwhich etc....)

thats all you need to know...

oh and drink a gallon or 2 of water through out the day... i wouldnt take creatine with anything acidic (juices, etc..) they breakdown the creatine into its waste product, creatinine. so... just use water

I agree with Matt. I have been buying the EAS Creatine. I probably am the only one that take my Creatine during my workout (with a lot of water). I prefere to follow up my workout with a protien shake. Protein powders and Creatine are the mainstain of my supplements. Two Protein shakes a day, and 10 grams of Creatine during my workout. But, like said earlier, don't substitue shakes for good protein sources like fish, and chicken. I use these shakes to help get to my daily goal of 220 grams of protein a day.
