Colstreamer's 2012 transformation contest log

Wow! Great workout! I woke up feeling like crap this morning, it's been busy as fcuk at work recently and I've been working late and not getting enough sleep. Napped for an hour when I got to work this morning then pretty much non stop from 0800-1300 when I went to the gym.

Did a 5 minute warm up at an easy pace.
Then started my usual interval training.

1 minute max effort
5 mins moderate effort
1 minute rest - repeated 5 times. This was ther blast from the 4th round http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6zljCJY45Q

Finished off with 3 sets of lateral raises
•8x8kg
•10x8kg
•12x8kg - these were bloody hard even though such a light weight.

I was a fcukin BEAST today! My first max effort I banged out more than 200 punches!!!! Record for me I usually get between 175-180 in a 1 minute blast. By my fourth go round I was drenched in sweat but still managed 174 punches that minute! It usually drops to just over 150 by the fourth max effort....

Ok, couple of things, firstly there's this little guy in the gym, 120lbs soaking wet but he was banging out 157lbs on the bench today! He's gotta be one of the strongest guys at my gym pound for pound. I think I'm gonna try talking him into doing SL5x5 he already asked me to show him how to deadlift. He seems keen and willing to learn and work hard.

Second thing, why is fish so good for you? Seriously, I hate seafood unless it's been battered, deep fat fried and served on yesterday's papers with some chunky ass chips ("fries" for all my American bredrins) but last week I started swapping in fresh fish for meat! I'm trying out this new thing, I was reading about eating right for your blood type and apparently my rare blood type AB is better at absorbing the nutrients from fish rather than animal meat!

This whole blood type thing may just be a load of old bollix but I'm gonna give it a go. Shovelling down vile tasting seafood for a month or so won't kill me, I lived on fish in Portugal (prolly why I was so skinny back then...) and if it IS a better protein source for me it'll show in better results won't it? Besides I take 8,000mg fish oil per day a fish rich diet should provide more of those good fats surely?

Bro.

The blood type diet is controversial. But I know first hand experience it's real and works. It's also been scientifically proven how our blood reacts differently to the different strains of sugar. Lectins effect our stomach flora.. It's all there. (I was actually going to be in a documentary about it with a buddy, but it was paused to raise funds)

So with that being said. AB is a tough one. You have less stomach acid than most other blood types, so it's harder for you to digest red meats, thus making fish a better resource.

I'm type O. I've followed the diet strictly before and can tell you I've never felt better in my life. I gave up gluten. And let me tell you, after five months of bein gluten free. I went to subway one day, had a foot long on wheat... And let's just say IBS kicked in within minutes and I felt sick for days.

If you eat something and notice you get bloated. That's inflammation. Inflammation is the beginning source of all sickness. It's because your body creates white blood cells to protect whatever it isnt recognizing has entered the body.

I noticed when I eat 100% to my blood type. I feel great, I don't get bloated or tired, and I lose weight like its nothin.

So I encourage you to follow it closely man. Pay real attention to how you feel.

Thanks for that Bader! I was skeptical of the diet, first thing I did when I heard of it was research criticisms of it. After what you said I'm gonna give it a go and stick to it 100% just sucks that I hate fish! On the plus side I'm OK to have dairy which I love but usually avoid! (Ha! Suck on THAT bitch!)

I'm actually trying to find out which fish would be best, I've been eating cod recently cos it's cheap! But there's gotta be something better and if I'm gonna eat shit I don't like I should at least eat the best!

It's really funny to look at it, and sucks at the same time. That most of the things I crave the most are what is worst for my body.

I love bread, I love ice cream... But gluten and dairy as horrible from me... The reason why I crave those things after cutting them out... Is because the body begins to heal itself and when healing the areas where that food caused damage it brings up kind of a cellular memory of the food and that's why you crave it... It goes away after one to two months.. That's when I really started notice how much my health improved... Corn and starches are horrible for me too.

Luckily I eat all the beef I want. :)

As for fish: salmon, tuna (I eat it straight out of the can with a little salt and pepper), cod, tilapia, mahi mahi are all great. I eat trout and bass to in the summer fishing times.

Talipia?? Mahi mahi? You're makin these up mate! Seriously pull the other one it's got bells on! Lol seriously though I'm gonna have to learn about fishies now!

Damn ukers and your lack of knowledge. Lol. Remember bader the only fish they know are fish and chips which means the fish is fried haha.

Damn Grow, you keep messing me up using lower case letters to abbreviate! Lol!

Although what you said is factually incorrect (we on an island bro! Bare fish!) it is quite true in my case! I only like deep fried battered fish served on yesterday's newspaper with some big greasy chips (fries to you guys) ;)

Lol! Dig in bro got a thick skin!

Although this feeling a tad like "bash the Brit" I was in the states back in '08 and one night I was in a room with 3 drunken women telling me how I'd invaded loads of countries to rape pillage and plunder their wealth etc... Tried pointing out I was only 29 at the time and not responsible for the actions of the British empire which ended nearly 30 years before I was born.... Lol!

Defeat is the stepping stone to victory.

I went back to the gym for some cardio before I left work.

29 minutes on the bag

10 minutes warm up easy pace plus stretching.

1 minute max effort mainly legs
3 minutes easy - moderate pace
1 minute rest with stretching - repeated 4 times

this was a killer :) in all the good way. I love bag work a great way to get out the aggression and excellent cardio, especially if you're a boxer.... lol

Makes me want to start doing MMA again. Great endurance and cardio training.

It's funny, I started with ju jitsu then mixed in Taekwondo and boxing... Then quit the grappling just as MMA was becoming popular! Lol! Now I just like hitting things. :)

Ok further to this blood type diet I have done some research into the most beneficial fish for me

Tuna
Cod - thank god these 2 are top of the list!
Grouper
Hake
Mackerel
Mahi mahi
Monkfish
Pike
Porgy - c'mon seriously? This is an actual fish?
Red fish
Red snapper
Rainbow trout

There are some meats I can eat in small portions with much less frequency but chicken, pork and beef are not on that list so I may cut out meat 99% of the time.
Lamb
Mutton - basically old lamb...
Rabbit - never tried
Turkey - never liked!

All dairy food is good for my blood type especially milk! In your FACE everyone who told me to drop dairy as the human digestive system hasn't evolved to cope with bovine milk!! My digestive system HAS evolved for dairy!

Well there had to be something in the diet I liked!

Walnuts and peanut butter are also classed as highly beneficial for me which is nice :)

I'm gonna have to drop my kidney beans in favour of
Lentils
Pinto beans
Navy beans - wtf??
Red beans
Soya beans

Ok this list is not exhaustive but rather an outline of the changes I have to make. I'm gonna do what my good bro Bader said and stick to this diet 100% for a couple of months and see how well it works for me. Wish me luck!

Ok so this blood type diet is in effect.

I'm now eating red fish... Never even heard of that before today! I'll be having cod tonight and I had tuna for lunch!

My mum is in town this week so she'll wanna take me out for dinner one evening. Man is she gonna be pissed! All through my childhood she fed me fish, lentils and soya beans and I hated it! Made it so tough on her to feed me and now I gotta tell her I'm on a diet which consists of everything she tried so hard to get me to eat! Lol!

Good on ya, CS. Re: blood type diet.

What would be awesome is if you can get a blood test on lipids and such at the start. Its suppose to help with high cholesterol and diabetes. Also lots of other major diseases.

Sigh. I so wish I could do peanut butter. Almond butter is yummy. Buts it's so not the same.

I think you'll notice fat loss faster, less indigestion, better immune system, better nutrient absorption. Love for you to log how you are feeling every so often. Nice workout too, cs.

I think you'll notice fat loss faster, less indigestion, better immune system, better nutrient absorption. Love for you to log how you are feeling every so often. Nice workout too, cs.

Hey Bader, thanks for the comments!

Lipid blood test eh? I can get one from the same place I'd go for pre/post cycle bloods. I'll book one for next week or as soon as possible. I've always had a good immune system although since getting pneumonia I seem susceptible to colds...

Yeah I found out peanuts are ok for me! Nice! There ARE some benefits to being AB! Also almond butter would be beneficial for me too!

I hope you're right about the fat loss. That'd be awesome! Indigestion is sometimes a problem for me usually after a large meaty meal!

What I can do is start a separate log just for this diet to record how it works for me. I'll start it as soon as I get the bloods done.

Yeah bro I would also be interested in seeing how that diet does you.
Nice on the arm workout too bro.

Thanks bro! Not a true arm WO though, I mean most of the exercises were compound! Lol!

I'm gonna start up a log for that diet. Gonna get bloods as Bader suggested so we can see if it does what it claims re lipid values etc.

so all youre eating for protein is fish?

No bro, that's just my main source. I'm also having tofu, beans, nuts and dairy. All protein sources. I know a lot of people say dairy is no good but I've honestly never had a problem with it and apparently it's recommended for my blood type.

dairy tends to bloat people and im pretty sure milk at least has a good amount of sugar in it, i never eat dairy when i'm cutting....well unless i'm cheating on my diet that is lol

Yeah I've heard that before, I think the bloat is down to insufficient lactase enzyme to digest the lactose. Which is if course sugar! I seem to be remarkably lactose tolerant though, I've never had any probs with dairy of any kind which fits with the blood type theory and as only 5% of the population have my blood type I can see why dairy isn't the best idea for most (95%) of people.

What a ball buster!!
OK guys, what'd ya think of this relatively high volume leg session? :D

Squat
1x20 @ bar
1x20 @ 42.5kg
1x20 @ 55kg
1x15 @ 90kg
1x12 @ 100kg
1x8 @ 120kg
1x7 @ 122.5kg
1x7 @ 125kg

Leg press -2 sets high wide foot position 1 set low narrow foot position 1 set low wide foot position
3x15 @ 140.6kg
1x10 @ 140.6kg - failure!

Deadlift
1x6 @ 115kg was aiming for 8-10 reps but my legs were wobbling after the 4th rep and by the 6th I felt as though my back was gonna pop so I sacked it!

My gym playlist. Goes from anything like punk to rap.
Depends what kinda session. Rap music seems to gear me up for a big lift , but my all time fav tune to gear me up it really gets the blood pumping. Is Darude sandstorm that is a classic my friend. And my Fave rapper is no doubt Lil Wayne I fucking love him.

I like plenty of rappers but the only one I've ever paid money for I Eminem, he's on a similar wavelength to me and he just gets better and better with each release. Just my opinion of course :) Darude? Never heard of them, I'll have to check em out. You like punk??? Dayum! I never got into that.

This is 100% correct! The bottom line reason in very lehmans terms is.. and let me resay this and pound it in peoples brains.. BLOAT = INFLAMMATION. INFLAMMATION = the very beginning of every disease and illness that exists! Inflammation means your body is producing white blood cells to destroy something that the body feels is foreign and does not deserve to be in the body! This is why you cannot have a blood transfusion from certain types of blood to others.. What happens? Your body creates a TON of white blood cells which then traps the different blood being transfused in your body and literally causes it to congele, thicken, and kill you. So luckily when we eat something that has a different sugar strain than what our body's blood type should receive.. we don't die.. but our body reacts in the same way on a very smaller scale, which in the end will have the same result as a bad blood transfusion just much slower to kill you.

CS is lucky that his blood type has the same sugar strain as the basic strain of milk lactose has. So his body accepts it and does not try and fight it. So he digests it correctly and can be useful to him.

B and AB blood types are the only ones that can take in dairy without seeing the reaction of white blood cells and infllamation. They also tend be the most rare blood types. AB specifically. So thats why we wonder when we cut out dairy to lose weight, it works so effectively to most people generally? Makes sense?

Again, not diving into extreme scientifics, this is very basic terms so that people can get the generalness of the blood type diet.

CS, you even mentioned you seem to have indigestion when you eat a lot of red meats... I on the other hand feel amazing after eating a big steak, no bloat, no tiredness, in fact I feel the exact opposite. Because I'm type O and type O generally have the most stomach acid than any other blood type.. So its very easy to digest red meats versus the others.

If I add in some white potatoes or corn to that steak though.. I'm dying, extremely bloated, and generally get IBS 30-60 mins after my meal. If I have sweet potatoes though, I feel just fine and dandy and full of energy. :)

Anyway.. not to hijack your workout log CS.. We'll need those blood results as a baseline and start up a new thread to really go into detail. With anything though, pay attention to your body, if you get sick or don't feel good from following the kinds of foods it suggests, well no point on sticking to it.. Do what you feel is best for you.. but if you already notice you are feeling better from eating more fish and non red meats, then I say that says something in itself already.

Yeah I remember reading that a while back bro. But these things happen and the main thing is your still lifting!! And tremendous numbers at that!!

Prior to now I have not heard much about blood type and diet. But am researching it now and it is facinating. I see for my own type (B) it seem that I do alot of it by instinct. But then again there are some instances that I am 180° out in left field too.
For instance I like and always have, dairy, milk and do well on it.
But Natty Penut Butter, LOL a def no no for my type but I eat it daily. As soon as Im done with my current jar of it tho gonna move on to Almond Nut Butter and see if I notice any diff.
Interesting stuff.

Also I see that I use bloat and water retention sinonumously which is def wrong. Wont do that anymore, thanks to bader.

Damn Bader thanks for writing your biology theses on my log! Lol joke bro thanks, seriously, for all that info. I get I degradation from chicken too, a no no for my blood type but generally regarded as a good protein source. I've been on fish instead of meat since Sunday and I've upped my dairy intake from practically zero to about a pint a day. And I feel great for it! More energy and unless I'm much mistaken I've dropped some more bf. I've got an assessment tomorrow so I'll find out for sure.

So your a type B also?
Yeah now that I finally got myself used to more chicken then red meat I find that chicken is an off limits for me. LOL.

Zed my brother is type B we had pretty much identical diets all our lives until we were 19 and 24 when we no longer lived together. He's never been fat ever and bulks like a mofo when he eats meat. He only did it once when he entered a heavyweight boxing match he went from 77kg (165lbs) up to 82kg (180.4lbs) in 2-3 weeks and his bf dropped. I dunno how quick that weight gain is compared to a bodybuilder who's actually training all the time for muscle development but as far as I could see he just ballooned! He was ripped to shit as well. I however got fat as soon as we reached Gibraltar and stopped eating nothing but fish, soya and effing lentils!! Everything I hated as a kid is the best stuff for me according to this blood type diet. When we stopped eating it I got fat but my bro stayed lean.

What ate you using to track your bf%?

I get measured with calipers every two weeks in the gym. Always get the same guy to do it for the consistency.

Defeat is the stepping stone to victory.

Ok cool. My biggest compliant with calipers is that the number can sig change by just moving the caliper over half an inch (on the same day)

That's why you take 3 measurements from each site and use the average. Also get the same person to do the test each time.
