can anyone give me the low down on what these even are...and what muscle your supposed to use etc.




we changed shit up a bit, and today we had where u start with a bar on the floor, and then u get it up and u like swing-ish it up to resting almost on ur front, and then u push it up above ur head like a military press, and then back down to resting, then back down to all the way down before u swing up again...


is this whole motion a clean, or is only getting up to step #2 (resting below ur neck) the clean.

also, my coach said i could use my legs a littlebit for momentum, and at first i was doing a reverse curl to get it up before pushing it above my head, and then i started using a mix of shoulder/swinging/traps....

im summary, what am i supposed to do with these?
 
That is a clean and jerk. The clean is getting the bar to your shoulders and the jerk is the pressing part. Since the weight being handled is much greater than a reverse curl for most lifters the back and grip take up the slack. But when you do it with proper form and dip under the bar to catch it it uses the whole posterior chain and quads.

the whole motion is called a clean & jerk.

alright thanks alot for the help guys...i was just worried that because he was using alot of different muscles and doing exactly what was described here, he was cheating an di just wannted to check ;)

alright thats how my coach was pretty muchd oing it and made me do it, except with quite a bit less weight ;)
