Chlorine irritation from swimming

I went swimming for the first time in about a decade today, and didn't take a shower before or after. I noticed the inside/back of my knees hurt while swimming but I assumed it was just because I'd done alot of walking today (about 2 hours worth for various reasons).

A few hours later I am changing clothes and notice the inner/back part of my knees are all red with alot of cuts, and there are bloodstains all over the inside of my jeans around the inner knee area. What the fuck is this? I have never had this happen before. Has anyone had something like this happen? Did they just overchlorinate the pool, would showering extremely well after the pool prevent this in the future? I have never heard or seen anything like this.

Why would this particular area be affected but no others?

chlorine does tend to dry out your skin, but i've never heard of it causing bleeding or abrasions.

sounds like you might be dehydrated.

did you sit on the edge, with your knees hanging over the side? Some pools are made of fiberglass... this could be it... but you would must likely be itchy and feel like little tiny splinters are all over the back of your knees and legs.

or maybe you need to stop wearing tight pants?

your melting

Chlorine has a pH close to 12. A powerful oxidizer for that reason alone.

Would not cause cuts or bleeding however.

It does tear up the gills on fish. Do you have gills behind your knees orb?
