Chin ups at home?

Hi all,

Hope I'm in the right section here. I'd like to rig up somethimg for doing chins in my home gym. I could drill holes in the joices and tie a couple ropes attached to a bar,but it would likely be too unstable. Does anyone have some suggestions for setting up a chin up bar at home in the basement? I'm sure there's a simple answer...but it's eluding my realitive newbie mind. I can take some ribbing..but any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Cheers.

Drill two triangular metal braces that you see in closets into your wall studs and place a metal bar on top of them. In fact, you could drill 3 of those braces and just put your hands between them. Voila! Depending on how heavy you are, this should work well.

they sell those doorway chin up bars for like 15 bucks, i had one and had put over 300 lbs. on it...

Thanks for the ideas guys. Hadn't heard of the doorway ones, was hoping to do wide grips anyway. I'll rig up something.
