Chest day inspiration-505lbs for 9 reps

My friend Bill always amazes me with stuff like this. He is 5'6-5'7 tops and around 200lbs 6-7%. He always loads up that damn bar with a shit load of weight. He does a quick warm up with 225, then 315, etc, etc. Then get will do 505 for a quick 12-15 reps. He has short arms, it's almost as if he was made to bench. I wouldn't be surprised if he hits 600lb press by next year.

You know this guy?

It's all genetics. He was propably always very strong. It's impressive but not inspiring to me as i do not aspire to do that. Good bye to his joints by 35 years of age, still it's impressive.

Goodbye to his joints? Somehow i don't think he's going to trash his joints by age 35. There are plenty of guys still lifting heavy into their 50s. Just seemed like a bit of sour grapes there. Very impressive and i doubt the squat suit or singlet had much to do with it,that's just a powerful dude. I think i put more abuse on my knees running that i ever did with controlled squatting.

Now thats impressive...as far as his joints go nada....i'm pushing 52 in dec and squat in the upper 500's with no knee wraps!!! and my joints are fine!!!

Didnt look entirely raw , but very impressive none the less.
That was definitely not a bench shirt. The sleves would be longer and he would not be able to do a double bicep in a bench shirt. I know I use one.

what did he just take a whiff of??
I wasn't there but it's common for PL's to use Ammonia caps before a big lift.

Strong ass lifter. You don't see that everyday. A genetic gift.

Hell,if he could do a single with 3x bw that would be damn impressive. Then again, with and without equipment are two different beasts. Have him post a movie or pics at least. That would sure be inspirational for my workout partner(currently he's doing 365 without equipment for doubles at 153).

I would say a football player or long distance runner would have more trouble with their joints than someone who benched 505 for 9 reps. -- besides, the guy didn't look like he was 21 either... he looked at least in his early 30's.

As far as inspiration goes... fuck it. If you are into training... and it doesn't inspire you... man... you don't have a heartbeat. :)

all the time bro....... its called special strength. the whole use it or loose it principal.

he's good at repping out 505, but not that great at 1 rep maxing ( 600 is great, but like WB said, its off because he does 95lbs less for 14 more reps???).

i dont know him, but i can tell you he trains for reps, thats why he's so good at them, he doesnt train for 1 rep max's very often. i bet if he dropped his repping and focused on 1 rep maxing, his max would shoot up, but if you put 505 on the bar, he may only be able to rep it half as many times as he did in the video.

your body gets good at what you train it for.
