I setup a cycle for a buddy of mine. Prepared him fully by telling him what to eat, how many calories, etc.. He's 4 weeks into it and gave me a call yesterday saying he's not noticing anything. So I start going over the obvious things with him like training, diet, rest... come to find out.. he's eating twice a day. says he doesn't have time to eat much. But yet he wonders why he's not growing and getting stronger.......... I see alot of people like this.. around here and on this board. its sad..

eating twice a day is not only bad if u are wanting to gain muscle.. but how can u onyl eat twice? i get hungry 2 hours after i eat a big meal.. i couldn't eat twice a day i'd starve.

Some people really do thing AAS are muscle in an amp / tab. Very sad IMHO that anyone would satrt a cycle without any dedication at all

Hope you have put him right Spunky

Probably his meals have a lot of protein/fat AND carbs (all 3).

Plus, with a lot of fat in a meal, they tend to sit in your stomach a LONG time, and blunt the hunger response.

To site an example, if you eat simply, with few macronutrients mixed (especially with low low fat) then your stomach tends to empty quickly.

Try eating like 1 apple on a totally empty stomach. Its OUT of there in maybe 15-20 minutes. Same with like rice or potatoes, very fat (not AS fast as just fruit, but still fast)

Then when you add some protein, it takes longer to empty, and then ...

add fat and look out - it takes forever!

I have been eating in quite a regimented fashion (a variation of the Swolecat diet) and have been doing quite well with it. I had a cheat day last week and had a 1/4 pounder with some fries. It felt like it sat in my stomach for HOURS. Seriously, like 5 hours later, I was NOT hungry at all.

This is one reason why the keto-style diets do work for some people. The fact that people will eat protein and fat means these take a while to leave the stomach and that people wont get hungry for a long long time.

Spunky, you need to let him know that if one is serious about making gains, they must make the time. I carry food in tupaware containers, and even cheese or nutts in zip lock bags in my pockets if no other option is available, everywhere I go. So what if you work ten hours a day, you can take 2 minutes to choke down 800 cals every couple of hours regardless of your line of work. If you are in school this can be a problem, but is solvable. I used to take a protien shake to my biology lab every day in a bottle and drink it right in the lab, when you explain why you must do this during a long class the professors will usually be understanding. If they aren't, just let them know that you bench over 400 ibs and the steroids tend to make you very angry when you are hungry... that you are only trying to protect the lab equipment and your classmates by drinking that protien shake.

Riker, sorry but that is bullshit. Anyone who is serious about making gains eats by the clock, hungry or not. Appitite is a non-issue. Its simply a matter of discipline. Saying you aren't hungry so you skip a meal is on par with saying you don't feel like workingout today, so you don't train. Or like saying, you really don't like needles this week, so you'll just skip your injection of test mid-cycle.

Uh, get a clue.

I was not justifiying it or saying that eating 2x a day was good. Not at all. I was simply explaining WHY (or actually how) some people do it. For us types who tend to be hungry every 3 hours (at least) I was explaining ghow it could happen that someone could go 5, 6 or more hours without eating.

Of COURSE its not good to eat 2x a da (DUH! LOL) I was explaining why some people do it, because most of us are almost stunned by the idea that someone COULD eat that infrequently.

Before you accuse me of advocationg that someone do, or do not do something, please take a bit more time to read and understand what I am talking about.

Riker, I understand that you are explaining how it could happen. However, no one who takes their training or diet half-way seriously would allow lack of hunger to be an excuss. The type of people you are describing are just plan lazy, and are trying to use steroids to compensate for their lack of drive.

I'm not saying that you are lazy, or that what you said about digestion is not correct. My point was that people who allow the digestion issues you decribed to prevent them from eating a schuduled meal lack the drive necissary to develop a great body.

I had a very close friend who was like that. He couldn't figure out why he wasn't 250 ibs. He had done his first cycle over 5 years ago and was currently on the following
500 mg test cyp/week
500 mg eq/week
75mg tren ed
40 mg anavar ed
...plus some other stuff but I can't remember it now.
On the 10th week of his cycle he was only up to 192 ibs (5'11). A couple of us found out why when he told us he just couldn't see how we were hungry enough to eat the food we were eating. "Man... by the time I get in 200 grams of protien, and 2800 cals I'm not hungry for the rest of the day..." Our general response was that when your watch says 4:00 and you have a meal schudled for 4:00 pm that is 800 cals (with x# of carbs, fat, protien etc), you eat the entire meal, right there at 4:00 pm, hungry or not. His response "You mean you guys eat when you aren't hungry?"

;) Thankfully my business is only about 100ft away from my house.I have a timer on my desk that bings every 2 hrs ...i'll go cram some food,The intake depends on what i've have earlier,it may be a protein shake, or a glass of milk & an apple!!!

I AGREE. RELAX.

My POINT was .... (sigh) NOT to "explain or justify" the guy's actions. My intent was to explain to those of us who DO get hungry every like 2-3 hours, the mechanisms behind why someone can really go for like 6 hours and NOT get hungry. I was not saying it was the correct thing to do, I was explaining HOW it happens so maybe peopel can LEARN from it.

Guys in our world will say stuff like "jeez, I cant imagine going that long without food", I just expleined how it happens. Maybe people can use that info (many diets DO use that principle of fat in the stomach keepiong someon with that sensation of feeling "full").

I can explain how a Nuke operates as well, but that doesnt mean I think its good for people to go set them off. LOL
