Jews are nto a race.

The idea of Jews being categorized as a race started during the Inquisition. Spanish and Church Inquisitors wanted to know if there was a jewish relative in the family somewhere - if it could be traced back, then a person could bve labeled as "1/4 Jewish" or "1/16 Jewish" for Inquisition / execution purposes.

There is no historical basis for Jews as a race...no development that would constitute a race. An excellent reference for the development of races is Jared Diamond's "Guns Germs and Steel".

Anyway, the DNA tests being similar probably is no surprise. The world's Jews can either be categoried almost entirely as Ashkenazi (European, pretty much) or Sephardic (Middle Eastern).

even the Ashkenazi Jews are origianlly of Middle eastern descent, as are modern Palestinians....so of course there is no difference - I can't imagine Jews would freak out over this, as any Jew would tell you that it is adherence to God's law that defiens a Jew, notthing else...

UNITED NATIONS - Secretary-General Kofi Annan (news - web sites) said Friday that Israel is violating a General Assembly resolution to halt construction of barrier that juts into the West Bank and to dismantle the 90-mile section already built.
