Anyways most of where I live was dense timberland and not much was living in it. The ponds etc. (man made) have made a good environment for them. If we weren't here the snakes wouldn't be here. So if we make a breeding area and kill off some of them, are the snakes worse off then not having a breeding environment? Same with the gators. You can get a hunting license for alligators now because there is nothing endangered about them. They've been multiplying for years and are in every fresh water area.
BTW the big ones come out of swamp. If 6 ft is close to a record I need to go out with my camera. Also he didn't jump literally, he just shot his head and did the open mouth thing at me. I didn't have a weapon and he went back into the water somewhere and is probably still out there somewhere.
Remember the alligator hunter loved playing with dangerous animals and he's dead now. There are people up in the hills that dance with snakes, many of them die too. If you want to fool around with them, have a good time of yourself.
I have two dogs I send out with the kids and an outdoor cat that's job is to kill snakes. The dogs will find animals long before the kids will and the cat is good at copperhead removal.

Believe it or not it was evoloution and not you that helped those snakes get there. The snakes were there a quite few million years before you helpful folks came in and provided them with this "help".
Are you comparing me risking my ass collecting venom to produce a treatment for people like you and your kids, to some backwoods hillbilly ritual? As far as the crocodile hunter, he was not a scientific man but he was entertaining and if he had to give his life in order for me not to have to watch something on network television and possibly get bored, then I say his death was worth it.member the alligator hunter loved playing with dangerous animals and he's dead now.
