Cardio question

If my cardio consists of 4x per week 25min incline walk at 4.0 pace does it help to drink bcaa during?
My cardio is done in this manor...
Wake up, eat, gym, shake , 30mins later cardio directly followed by a meal...
What's ur thoughts?

YES

Do your post workout cardio right after weight training.. Do not take a protein shake then. Take your BCAAs at that time and wait to take your protein shake until done with everything. IMO, you should be sippin on some BCAAs the entire time you are in the gym.

Fasted cardio + BCAA's first thing in the morning kick ass.

I have always lost the most weight running in the morning before breakfast than any other time..

I have been doing this for a VERY VERY long time and I think you can see the positive effects that it has... Cardio BEFORE lifting is the most optimal...

depends on your goals: if you are looking for cardio health (purely) and maximum muscle retention, add BCAAs and maybe glutamine as you do your cardio; on the other hand, if you're looking to get very lean, fasted cardio is the best idea.

Deff not trying to loose weight , just trying to stay/ get a little leaner... My diet is good , somwhat of a bulking diet bc I do wanna gain size... I have starch carbs about 4x a day on weight days and 1-2x on off days...

Okay maybe I'll try and do my cardio before I take my shake... I do drink bcaas during my workout, I might just add am extra scoop an 8extra oz of water and just sip on it wile I do my cardio. I could also add a scoop of Glutamine , although I already have 5g in my pw drink...
My cardio is only 25 mins , I just love gettin a meal(shake) directly after I lift.. If you say it's better to do cardio first I can try that..
I don't like doing it before I lift as I don't have as much energy...

Not trying to do fasted as I don't wanna loose muscle or weight...

If I could pick your brain a little Dylan, I have read a few studies about cardio before lifting and majority of them said to avoid this for a few reasons one being when you run your body goes catabolic and stays that way for an hour or so and we all know you want to be anabolic during workouts. The other reason was you fatigue your self before a workout thus not being able to lift heavy.

We all know cardio before, after, or fasted is very controversial and everyone has a reason plus studies behind what they feel works best for them. Im curious to hear your reasoning behind it as I'm always eager to learn more and want to hear other perspectives. Have you tried after workouts or fasted? Also do you go from cardio to lifting weights right away or do you take a break in between the two?

Dylan can you please elaborate on why cardio is better before weights? I always thought that it was better after because glycogen stores have been depleted.

Personally, I can't lift nearly half as efficiently and intense if I don't do my cardio first... That is just me... In terms of putting on size, when you are doing cardio after you workout, you are tearing down the muscle ever more than you have from lifting and really inhibiting growth... I want to get protein and bcaas, etc... straight to my muscles after lifting and allow them to recover quickly and grow... I have NEVER had an issue putting on size lifting after cardio... Your diet really dictates this more than anything...

I do nearly an hour and forty five minutes of cardio a day... after cardio, I take about 5-10 minutes and have a protein shake at the juice bar... I just use protein, water and ice but also a scoop of blueberries or strawberries... the fruit addition does wonders for growth and energy... then I go straight to lifting... after lifting, i always go to the sauna and steam room and then the swimming pool to relax my muscles...

I'm 36, personally I find I like doing cardio first better if for not other reason than it forces me to lift lighter weights preventing injury from ego while on cycle.

IF I'm going to have a heavy day I will lift first but 90% of the time I do cardio first.

As you can see, everyone has their preference on the way to do things. It's all about what works for you. I personally don't like mixing cardio and weights on the same days. I have workout days and cardio days. That are usually done fasted. I generally lift just 3 days per week (M,W,F) and do cardio all other days without a true day off of exercise. It works very well for me, but may not be the best approach for the next guy.

I prefer cardio first. It gets me in the zone warmed up and primed to lift. I slam Bcaa gluts mine and a small post workout shake dextrose shake after cardio to just refill the stores a little. Then I hit the weights hard for a half hour or so. Now if I'm doing a 5x5 day of deads squats and row or bench or something, ill skip cardio and focus on that. Maybe cardio after IF I haven't fully drained myself lifting
