Okay, I've been laying off on my marathon (hour-long) cardio sessions per everyone's advice. (My goal is to build.)

Thought I was doing fine with it, but then got SLAMMED with cramps yesterday! Worst it's been in many, many months.

I was wondering if easing up on cardio had something to do with it.

You guys might know from some of my other posts that I've been struggling with allergies since Labor Day weekend. Last night in bed, see me wimpering miserably and debating between Benadryl and Advil! Taking both just seemed too Elvis Presley. Woe is me!

Where'd my smiley faces go? I wanted to insert the cry-baby one!

who told you to lay off the 60 min cardio sessions if you want to build? do you want to lose bf also?

I do my cardio in the morning, but i change it up, sometiems 60 min, sometiems 30 and also varying intensity levels.

I don't think that would be your cause of the cramps..but not sure. I do know that cardio helps me with my cramps though. it seems to ease them slightly.

Trip,

Everyone and their brother's been telling me to cut out, or at least seriously reduce, the cardio. I'm aleady pretty lean, so they said that I'm probably just burning muscle.

I still do some, figuring that the heart is a muscle. Gotta build that for health, even it means some expense to the other muscles.

I do think cardio is the best remedy for cramps (preempts altogether, rather than just alleviates--yea, cardio!), so I wonder if not doing cardio is ... well ... Hellooo cramps!

I use Alleve now for menstrual cramps. After suffering for YEARS to the point of not being able to get out of bed during my period, this stuff is like a godsend. I also like swimming for my cardio workout around my period as well: if you are cramping its not as jarring. Some women have an aversion to swimming during, so , as always, its up to the individual....
