I lift, do cario and then eat. But I have specific reasons for doing so. First off, I can only workout in the mornings, so I don't have the luxury of lifting, then going to get something to eat, waiting to digest and then come back and do cardio. But also, lifting first depletes your glycogen stores so when you do cardio immediately after, your body goes to the next most available source of energy....your fat. I'm cutting, so this is ideal for me. I replace my carbs and take in protein after the whole workout (lifting+cardio). This has been working for me very well.

You could also bring a MRP with you to take towards the end of your lifting to help get some whey into you during that anabolic state right before you start your cardio.

directly after lifting weights, you are not in an anabolic state. you need food.

train then do cardio then eat..

Your glyocgen is depleted.. your body has to burn fat.

if you have a shake/carbs your body has to burn those calories first say 20 minutes then it starts to burn fat.

For contest preps i have done cardio pwo and came in with sick conditioning

unless you do HIIT, then you'd have to split up the workout and the cardio. For example, HIIT in am and workout in the pm. I did that last summer. Always took BCAA's during workout and b/w meals as well when I was in a calorie deficit.

everyone is right, but if you are concerned with gaining muscle at all, have a small whey shake (15-20g's) and some bcaas and glutamine. NO CARBS. anything you burn will be fat. If you cardio on and empty stomach you run the risk of burning some of your hard earned muscle. dabuffguy is right, after working out you are not anabolic you are in a catabolic state. your muscle is being brokedown when in a catabolic state. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catabolism

whey and aminos are a must.
