Cancer research and fundraising

Do you guys think there will be a cure for cancer...... I mean after all this money has been raised and like 25 years or more of cancer research and still no cure. Will there ever be ?

I am wondering how much money actually goes to cancer research from the donations from all over the world.

I think there is a good chance. It is not so much of pooring billions of dollars extra work into it, but I see that often cancer research targets specific forms of cancer, while they all have the same foundation, namely point mutations in the DNA. I think that with the use of gene therapy by means of viral vectors the point mutations could be repaired by cutting out the bad part and replacing in with the correct part. This should work for all kinds of cancer. I can envision it as follows: a biopsy of the tumor is taken and the DNA is compared with normal DNA. The point mutations are identified and the correct DNA parts are synthesized. These are implanted into viruses and the patient is infected. The DNA parts will only target the tumor cells. Well, I am not an MD so I am just talking BS I suppose.

A lot of money and don't be suprised if there is already a cure, but why cure people when so much more money is coming in and so much more money in treatments instead of an outright cure?
