can someone explain why diesel jeans cost $150?

This is not a flame; I just want to make sure I'm not overlooking something.

I went to the Diesel store and saw a pair I liked ... I figured it'd be about $60 because that dirty, Goodwill look has allowed not- so-great-condition clothing to sell at crazy prices.

The price was actually $150. First off, let me just say that I am not a cheapskate when it comes to clothes; I'll gladly pay that amount for high twist wool pants or a super nice dress shirt. Also, i'll buy $50-60 jeans if the look and fit are worthy.

Also, I did not try on the Diesel jeans, partly because my ends had split while laughing at the outrageous price. Maybe had I worn the dirty looking things I would've felt like a million dollars and bought them.

Don't Abercrombie, Guess, and Levi's make jeans that look the same as any particular Diesel jeans(each company doesn't make all the different styles, but you can shop those three stores and find any Diessel style in at least one of the stores, i think)? How much better quality or better fitting could Diesel be than those brands? Am I missing somehitng important?

Thanks for clearing this up for me.

They're good and they last long....best quality I've bought so far...and yeah they are pricey but they're worth it

yeah, that was what came to my mind, as well...

but, about the only reasons i've had for throwing away a pair of jeans have been when they no longer fit or if i rip them via some fluke accident. I mean, all my jeans (levi's , gap, A|X, etc) have had no problem keeping up over the years.

so don't you think this "long-lasting" deal is overplayed? I mean, pants and shirts wear out through repeated wear and washing, but any decent jeans get take those lickings. So, I had a hard time convincing myself it was all about the durability (believe me, I really did want to get them, but I just needed on solid reason)

as far as quality goes, how much better than a pair of silvertab jeans or guess jeans can they be? Please let me know , cuz if they truly are ten times better I'd like to go back and try them on . Judging by the feel of the fabric, I didn't think it was going to be some really super fit. In fact I thought it might feel uneasy .

I agree Diesel are WAY too much.
But, honestly, they look SUPER good when they are on. Until all these lo-rider jeans came out I would say Diesels made a girls ass look awsome.
Now..its all about the lo-riders.

Here's a secret... a lot of jeans come from the same manufacturer. The quality is identical. You're paying for the brand name, not the quality.

The "long-lasting" line is majorly overplayed. Jeans are built tough, but most people who where them aren't doing anything close to something that might damage them. In other words, your levi's are going to last you just as long as your diesel jeans.

Save your money... buy some cheaper jeans. I HIGHLY doubt anyone is going to notice or judge you any differently.

I agree wholeheartedly with you LeviathonX, but I just wanted to make sure it wasn't once of those things where Diesel is really highly liked compared to Levi's or Gap.

It's a dead giveaway that jeans will last more years than you wanna wear them , given you don't crawl all the time.

The only question remains, do girls really like them on guys a lot more than other jeans? If girls think they're really cute on guys, then I might consider buying them, but if not there's absolutely no reason.

I never found that girls really cared what brand of jeans I was wearing. They were more concerned with the look... not the brand. You can get the "diesel jeans look" from a variety of other cheaper jeans companies.

Anyway, if the girl gives you the shaft because you aren't wearing her favorite brand of jeans, that is a sign right off the bat that she is shallow. I'd just avoid her.

You can look good without spending a $1000 on clothes.

tru dat...i just wanted to hear from someone who thought otherwise, cuz there must be some ppl who think they're just fabulous or else they wouldn't be selling those jeans for $150

Italian made jeans folks. I find there are better styled jeans out there. I used to buy Diesel but their cuts are really nasty now. I'd rather by Mavi.

Just in case some shallow dickhead bothers to bend you over and look for the tag rest assured you got your diesels on........I think it depends on what looks good on you who gives a fuck about the label unless you believe it might ruin your image.....is somebody talking about me?....are you sure? does my hair look ok? is there something on my face?why do they keep staring at me??????????:alien: :alien: :alien: :alien:

If you really want Diesel jeans without the absorbant cost, go back to the store, find your size, then search for your size on Ebay, you can get them for a fraction of the cost, new with all the tags still attatched. I just bought a Kenneth Cole MSRP $300 leather portfolio bag for $109 shipped, new with all tags, the leather strap and the rain bag. You pay what you do in stores since it's gone through numerous middlemen's hands driving up the costs. I've bought alot of great new with tags clothes/accesories on Ebay and saved ALOT of money.

I got a pair of those grungy looking jeans from Gap and they fit great and well they're still looking good as far as the "long-lasting" matter. They also cost like $40.

I don't care about name brands..

I just want some jeans that fit good and look good on me.

RE:

Concidering they are excellent quality and will probably last you 10 times longer that jeans that cost 1/2 the price.

I belive in spending money and receiving 1 quality item rather than spending the same ammount on 5 different pairs that are crap and will probably tear or wear out in a few months

A buddy that just got back from cancun said he did some shopping there and picked up a few $150+ diesel jeans for $40-60 each.

It's true, a lot of people are making money on those things. Lots of middlemen taking the profit.

Maybe my next trip to TJ, i'll pickup some jeans as well. :-D

I find diesels fit and look nice. Since price isnt realy the issue, I find armani, versace, diesel are just tailored to fit much better then a pair of gap, levi whatever.

I run around in my pajamas (yes I am comfortable in public places in my pajamas) in malls always going store to store trying different brands of jeans just to make sure I am not overpaying for my clothing. Honestly I can say, a 60 dollar pair of jeans cannot compare with a pair of 200 dollar pants/jeans.

I always end up going back to armani/versace/diesel for my pants. Sorry if im a brand whore.

In my experience, diesel is a major scam. Bought one pair, once. Never again. Within a year the freakin' knee had a hole in it.

I've had Levis last 10 years without ever wearing out at the knees.

the distressing process on many of diesel's new jeans is actually very labor intensive. Secondly, the denim is also of the italian dual ringspun variety and as a result cost more than a pair of levis. Thirdly, people are willing to pay that much and as a result, they will keep charging that much. Check out ebay or just wait for sales at local boutiques. I've never paid over 110 for a pair and I have a pair of just about each cut they make.

a) they are the best fitting jeans around
b) the always come out with original washes, if you look at the jeans you are wearing they were probably copies of diesels
c)hand made .....every pair looks different
d) when they do a wash to the jeans it does not affect the quality of the denim, other companies will simply run a sander or somethign over the denim to give them a certain look
e) they are italian

They are all that i will wear, and trust me girls can tell.........its like saying why does a ferrari cost 300 000 when you can get a kia for 8000

so many of you "non-fashionable" types think that diesels are the mecca of denim... WRONG. There are tons of great companies out there, many of which charge more than diesel, producing quality denim. Check out some of the japanese ringspun products like G-star denim or Evisu genes. You can get into the upper 400's on an ugly pair of evisu's... Paper and G-star get my votes as the highest quality denims... Seven gets best cut award... and Diesel has to take the award for original distressing styles.

Well some inside info.
I work for Limited the Express Men branch. The Express Jeans are made from the same material as Diesel but we only charge 68 dollars on the average for our fashion denim.

They cost so much because all of Diesel and our Fahsion Denim are hand made. All the designs and bleaching special stiching sanding(yes sanding they actually sand the jeans) some jeans are spayed with resin some are blasted with stones and some are baked. But its all done by hand and no two jeans are alike.

Granted Diesel has a larger mark up because of name but we sell more volume so our mark up isnt as much.

It is called marketing.............any company gets some attractive models, good quality clothing, and the right advertising schemes, and you have some expensive ass clothes. No matter what it is all %100 cotten. Not that I am putting down on the shit or anything because I wear Diesel, Bananna Republic, Abercrombie, etc. but you are paying for the purchasing agent to go out and buy the best designs and labels as well.

BTW the same purchaser who works for Diesel also works for the Limited Company too.:D

i wasnt sure why they were so expensive either until i bought my first pair... wow. Not only do they feel amazing when you're wearing them, they also look amazing. I wore them out a couple nights after buying them, and some female friends of mine actually said "wow, those are nice jeans" without seeing the label..
They're made in Italy, look amazing, and feel lik jogging pants... what more can you ask for? Accompanied with the price tag is a sense of stlyish distinction, which is there partly because of the price tag.... If every city slicker schlub was walking around in a pair of diesels, then no one would want them anymore.

My diesels barely fit in the legs heh, I look kinda goofy because the legs are so tight, fuck it. Time to become a cardio bunny.

It is all in the name and who wears them. The superstars and pro athletes wear them, so everybody wants them, thus they command a higher price.

why diesel jeans are $150

Most of the higher priced Diesel jeans feature very unique hand applied processes (rips, tears, re sewn pockets after dying) thus making the gament much more labor intensive. However, branding and quality are the main reason these are priced at a premium. If you want to have the look, you will pay the $$. There are alternative brands that will give you an 'exclusive" look - they are hard to find if you live outside of the big cities. Ebay has a good mix if you search. Buffalo Jeans and Emale jeans have some AWESOME styles under $80!

Yeah, Most of diesel jeans are costly but it depends upon from where you bought it. Because rates are not same at all store so if you surf the google and find cheaper store then its cost might be less than that!! :)
