hey trainers, I am a very knowledgable bb and a good student(went to Georgetown University). I am wondering if I can cram in 3 days and pass the ACE on Feb. 8th? Or is there just too much crap? I have heard it is really easy though, so I am not sure.

bro im takin it on the 8th in boston have studied minimal but know a lot of my shit as well...

and im not even an ex sci major...

You can if you spend 8 hours a day of those three days...its not a very hard test, but neither is the written driving test and that can trip people up who don't refresh their skills.

Bump for more replies... where can we get the manual / handbook on such short notice? It's obviously too late to order it off the website...

The only problem I see is that the test, at least when I took it many years ago, has a lot of calculations -- which don't mean shit in regard to bodybuilding or even fitness, but that's ACE for you.

like stuff that you could only know if you bought the ACE manual?

i was just on the ACE site before i came here. i would like to take the next round of tests in a few months or so.
but $300 for the whole pack seems like a lot. maybe i could just get away with the study manual

and i am a sci major, if that would even help for the ACE anyhow.

bro dont forget you need to be CPR certified at the time of the exam

no dude, the guy at ACE told me you can get it after you take the test, but they will not release your results and potential certification until you prove that you have it.

Damn, $300 for the pack, that's cheap compared to the pack I bought from ISSA. It's double that cost. Doesn't make any sense either since I hear that ACE is a little more respected than ISSA.

I bought the $300 package and all you really need is the book. The flashcards are helpful since they help highlight main points but that's about all. I didn't find the audio cassettes very useful - mainly because cassette players are really inconvenient for me.

You probably already signed up for the test, so go ahead and take it. However, I doubt without the book I would have passed the test without studying, even though I was a trainer when I took it (granted that doesn't necessarily mean shit nowdays - but I consider myself pretty knowledgeable).

I've seen some ACE personal trainer books on eBay for really cheap - pick one of those up, and even if you take the test, there's some good information in there anyways - if you want read it for fun.

I haven't taken a single ex phys class or related course.. I've learned a little on my own, but as far as that goes, I prefer to learn biochem as it is related to AAS, not kinesiology...

I went over the study guide/book on my 45min flight to the site of the exam and passed the test..

Just remember, conservative, conservative, conservative..

If you are not already familiar with human anatomy in the excruciating detail that ACE likes (I never bothered to learn this) I wouldn't spend too much time on this.. There might be a question asking you to identify some obscure muscle of the foot, but there are only a few of these....

Being a member of the board, you'll be fine.. Just remember.. CONSERVATIVE!

good luck..
let me know how it goes.

Good advice - I asked a trainer bro who took it a few months ago and he said the same. Be conservative. Answer the questions like you're training a fat housewife at the one Bally's in Nebraska, NOT how we train.

Hey, does anyone who passed the test wanna sell me the studyguides / manual / video / whatever? Shoot me a pm.

Bump, got my study guide, so who's taking it the May 2/3 one?

Any last-minute study tips from bros who passed?

the ace test is impossible to pass without a really good understanding of kineseology and anatomy.

inerstions, origins, etc etc etc.

I passed it the second time i took it (after the first one expired) and did not study at all. I went through NESTA this last time. I do not think it matters which cert you get as long as its legit and you can get insurance with it.
