calf asymetry

Bros-
I have been training off and on for 10 years. Solid training now for 2 years straight. My problem is that my left calf is one full inch larger in circumference than the right. I have tried extra calf sets performed on the right. Additionally, no matter how I train them, my left calf is always more sore after calves day. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!:confused:

No musculoskeletal or nerve injuries. Quads and hams are symetrical and equal eachother in strength from leg to leg.

How many times did you measure? Most of the time when this happens, people tend to take the measures in a slightly differnt spot, which can lead to a false measurement.
 
I have measured numerous times. You can also tell just by looking at them (especially from posterior view). The medial head is just meatier. What can I do?
 
my left calf is almost an inch smaller, but i have extensive nerve/tendon damage.

its probably a mind-muscle thing, or something w/ the CNS

id only do single calf movements, and stop training the left one for a while
 
I just tried something different for calves - one legged jumps up steps. It looks gay, but my calves were really sore the next day.
 
Thanks for the thoughts bros. If anyone else out there has any experience with such frustration as myself, please step up with your suggestions. They are all welcome!:idea:
 
i feel the same way with my left and right bicep.


all i can think of- and its probably wrong- is that either your form is not good enough on your bad leg, because the weight you are using may be too heavy. possibly if the weight is too heavy, your not doing the exersise correctly, but it may be just right for the good leg, so you are basically training the good leg, further, but just wasting time on the bad leg, causing further differences, and the other leg not getting worked.

I don't have any injuries and my calves are asymmetrical too. My right one is 17 and my left is 16.5. I always thought it was normal to have a little bit of difference. The funny thing is is that I am left handed and left footed, but my arms and legs on that side are a little smaller. It isn't really noticable unless measured though. Some people's legs also vary in length (i.e. right 32, left 31) too. Which could possibly change things.

I dunno, but isolating that smaller calve just might work.
