Cable company charging for digital TV?

Yeah, what's up with this television switch thingy?

For someone who hasn't owned a television for about a decade, what do they need to know and/or do if they ever get one again?

As long as you don't use an antenna or bunny ears, you have nothing to worry about. If you do, you have to get a special converter in order to get the free channels.

Be like me, or I am like you, if you don't own a TV. I don't and don't want one. Fudge it all to hell I say. Charging for what used to be free is stupid on the public's part.

All of the stations will still broadcast their signal, just not in the analog signal range.

I still don't see why this is such a big deal, or why it's becoming a law or something.

I assume the television companies are going to be reaping heavy profits from all this? It's not like the signal quality or type affects american quality of life.

The government is subsidizing the purchase of converter boxes.

cable is a rip off
but one of those lavish things in life I want

What rebate cards?

:cow:

The ones for the poor peeps that receive information over the airwaves.

If you had the cable you could watch sci fi to your fill.

You should watch "The Private Little War" before you succumb to stefka's feminine wiles.:worried:

It's mainly to free up needed spectrum in the analog broadcast range and force people to make the conversion to digital.
