Bust in Ohio?

A buddy of mine told me that he saw on the local news this weekend that a guy got busted for steroid distribution in Delaware, Ohio. Anyone else hear about this?
 
ask INDY about it..
he lives in ohio and has contacts all over.
 
I haven't heard anything and I'm an hour or so from Delaware! :Chef: :tuc:

An international steroid drug ring is being broken up right here in central Ohio.

The Drug Enforcement Administration searched a house Thursday involving a man they call a "key player."

The DEA believes the man is part of an international drug ring where the chemicals are being brought in from Thailand to central Ohio for distribution.

While no one has been charged after Thursday's search, the Drug Enforcement Administration says it's the biggest steroid drug organization they've worked on in the past couple of years.

It is one they say they learned about because the suspect posed as a DEA human resources agent.

In a quiet suburb of Delaware County, DEA agents searched the home of a man they suspect of dealing steroids.

The DEA claims the man posed as a federal drug agent.

"He had business cards printed up and he was purporting himself [that] what he was doing was with the full knowledge and acceptance of the Drug Enforcement Administration," says DEA Asst. Spc. Agent in Charge Tony Marotta.

Agents say the suspect went so far as to set up a fake voicemail, which says, "Hi, you've reached the voice mail of… with the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Files and Background Investigation Department."

Agents claim he's responsible for sending tens of thousands of doses of steroids and gallons of GBL into the bodybuilding community.

Steroids speed up the heart rate. GBL is a form of the date rape drug that counteracts the effects of steroids, letting a user sleep.

The agency wants to break up this ring before anyone more susceptible gets a hold of it.

Marotta says, "You don't want it to get into the hands of those high school and in college."

10TV contacted the suspect. He declined to speak on camera, but did say he is a DEA agent who works in human resources.

The DEA in central Ohio continues to say he does not work for the administration.

Yea this article sucks, I talked to a local Police Officer who happens to be my next door neighbor last night. He was the one that advised me of the bust within a few hours of it happening. I didn't have many details so I didn't post it but spoke with Satch a few buddies to see if it was anyone we know. Turns out he lives right down the street from me, it's on in Delaware, but in Delaware County, this is a VERY small community I am in so I was abit shocked. One of the officers told me there was about $400k in gear in his residence, and they had been watching him for awhile cause he was making trips to Thailand to pickup gear. As far as the DEA agent posing, the officer told me he has heard nothing of the sort up till now, so I dont know if that's media hype or what, none the less, abit too close to home for me .
 
Wow, only thing that really weirds me out about that is that the news article says they tried to contact him and he STILL claimed to work for the DEA. Most guys would have just given up once caught. But he still professes to work for the DEA. Weird.
 
This shit sucks to hear. I hate hearing about anyone going down if they don't deserve it. Sometimes our unjustice system just seems to fail. Glad it was nobody from around here though!

Well my buddy is on duty working right now, but evidently he was "known" in the Cols area here. I dont know him, nor ever heard of him, but they have a long list of local "Body Builders" that he was supplying here in Cols. He said that the guy was a big mother fucker, and that's alot coming from my buddy cause he's a big fucker himself, especially for a cop not on juice.....He then said that the only info he got from the LE officials that have been following him around was that, he frequents a few gyms in the local area selling to locals, so from what I gather he sourced locals at the gyms, but doesn't sound like he sold online or anything like that.

So all that said, why would someone pay the money to fly himself to Thailand to buy the gear instead of ordering it, and then ontop of that, they claim $400k in gear in his house, but only sold to locals, dont believe that shit at all, something doesn't smell right.........

Yea that's for sure, but I guess the idiot didn't hide the fact he was dealing in the gyms.......I'll watch the local court docket here and keep ya apprised of what comes of it.

Thats what the police estimate its street value at... but I doubt it was more than 40k in actuality.

If he sells to people at local gyms then he's not a key player.

That sucks he got busted, but I dont think any of us will be affected.
 
What I would like to know is how the DEA actually got onto him. Someone must have talked to the police to tip them off.

The thing is thousands of people from the US must make trips to Thailand each year, why pick on just this one? Perhaps he was bringing it back on the plane and they found the goods but decided to wait until later, letting him take it home, and search his home and bust him with more?

What that ACTUALLY means is that it was worth about $40,000, NOT $400k
They inflate the stuff on average about 10x what it is REALLY worth :rolleyes:

in some countries that ive visited, you can still EASILY walk into any hardware store and pretty much walk out with all the ingredients to make it..

what some people dont know is that GHB was a famous supplement used by bodybuilders in the 1980's.

them some fuckheads decided to spike womens' drinks with it...
and the wheel started turning against it...

and while we're on the topic the same shit happened with efedrine.
a great supplement for athletes.

but some fuckos decided to use it instead of the expensive methamphetamine 'speed' as one of the ingredients in the drug extasy.... so now they fucked up efedrine for us bbing too..

Yea, I know some bro's that still use G regularly. These are not novices either. They are bb's that have competed for many years. Shit scares me too much because the doseing is never that accurate.

I would say I have actually seen MORE busts of steroids than Rec. drugs in the past year :(
(maybe because it makes the front page of the newspaper each time though :worried: )

Though the combination of dealing them together CERTAINLY makes it alot worse...

LOL, Not all of them, only a few that work enough overtime to afford this neighborhood, it's a small community here so word gets around and everyone knows everyone, I'm just glad my neighbor gives me an inside listen to what's going on.
