Yep, he's telegraphing the jab. You can sidestep those before they're even thrown

Not to mention his hands are below his chin, so also he's asking to get knocked out.

How did I telegraph it? It was just one series of jabs... The other comments don't apply, but this one might.

redguru said:
lol at no extension, hope you are fighting a guy with a 12" reach.

I'd like to hit you on the chin with one, you fat assed bastard.

Dude, boxing 101

If you raise your elbow too high when throwing a punch , it becomes too obvious that your throwing a punch. The punch will also be slow. You want to throw the punch with power , you you don't wanna wear a sign around your neck that your about throw a punch either...

conceal shift in weight at the hips
don't raise the elbow too high

LOL all the pro Boxers in this thread....you cant tell what kind of jab it is because a shadow boxing jab is WAY different than an actual jab where you connect.

But yeah your elbow is coming up to high.

Exactly. Half of these mother fuckers have never been in a boxing gym and actually sparred. If I snap that jab out there hard into the air every time, I will fuck up my arm... I just took one hitting the bag. Maybe I'll spar some of these smart ass know it alls.

redguru said:
LOL-IO, with that reach? I could hold my hand on your forehead like in an Our Gang skit while you fan the air in front of me.

Let's do it Red? Where do you live? We can spar if you'll meet me half way.

Maybe, but if you don't think I hit with power, maybe we will have to spar. How much boxing experience do you have?

LOL, I don't box, but I will challenge you to a spelling bee, solving differential equations for time or to any marksmanship test.

That's what I thought... And I will play you in scrabble if you don't cheat.. Or a spelling bee if you like... I may not win, but I am an excellent speller and scrabble player. I didn't take math past trigonometry which I made an A in, so me challenging you solving differential equations is like you challenging me in bench pressing, squatting, or boxing.

I think biteme is just pulling yooz guyz legs...LOL he does not even move like a fighter.
moves more like Daniel San from Karate Kid Part-1 where he had the book and was throwing techniques--ichi, ni, san, shi :)

Several years.

I took it up as a military brat since the gym and training were basically free.

Forget it then. You have too much experience for me to straight up box, I just know that I can hit very hard and fast... I'll spar any of these smart asses that don't have extensive boxing experience. I'll beat em on speed alone or power punching.

Dude , I'm so out of practice it's not funny.
Armchair boxer , LOL

I love hitting the heavy bag. I start out with 5 pound weights in each hand to build up the power and speed. It's a damn good workout too. I'm sucking wind for several minutes after I'm done. I've sparred with some amateurs and a pro, but I don't have much ring experience besides that. The pro broke my nose. I was about to hit him in the ribs and he caught me with a straight right. Found out it was broken a few days later. He said he was gonna take it easy on me but he was afraid of my power, and didn't want me to hit him hard in the ribs. Getting hit in the face is not fun.

LOL, You may out bench me but I rep 4 plates in squats ATF, E- tough guy.

Dude...just for fun, I'll spar ya. I've boxed on and off since 8 as well as tae won do, muy thai, aikido, and bjj. Sparrings not a fight... we work our form, speed, and defense. We don't hit 100% power...morelike 75 or 80. I'm in Dallas next month... you nearby? I spar once a week when I'm not on the road as well as T/Th BJJ class. For weight class... I'm 6'1" 235 ~14% BF but I'm old... 48. You can probably beat an old man in an all out fight. :-)

He'll pull a hamstring the day before the contest.

From that angle and the shitty video - it look like your hands are too far away from your face - not too mention that your snapping your jab out there but not returning it fast enough. Don't hang your arm out there when you throw a punch - not unless you want to get hit over the top of it.

Boxing since I was a teen on and off - Aikido for about 2 years. (Just in case you wondered)

Tried to send this as PM to biteme but his box is full so either way... he's all right by me...

Biteme... sorry if my post came off as an asshole. Not trying to dis' you. I like to spar and train mma. I travel a lot on business so I miss a lot or training. It's easy to find a gym to lift but not so easy to find a dojo or boxing ring that one can walk in off the street and train more than hit the bag and such.

I liked your comment about the broken nose by a pro... I train with Jason Delucia...ex-pro MMA fighter. He's broken my nose. I have a little power so when I corner him and throw heavy leather, he turns up the heat. We've had some wars then we laugh. They start as sparring but then the adrenaline gets flowing. Wish I could get more ring time but work and life get in the way.

Once again, no disrespect intended.

Later...

My comment was with regards to a much ballyhooed sprint race between Longhorn and biteme.

Oh...being relatively noob here and an infrequent poster, I did not want to sound like I was calling him out. I don't know him well enough to joke around or call him out.

Thanks man!

It would be easier to critique if the camera angle were from the side.........but the elbow thing was right on. Also, hitting a bag gives a better feel for your extension and snap. You look like a compact guy whose jab isn't going to be that affective anyway against guys with the reach adv............so work on your angles, like Tyson. You don't get inside coming straight in.........get off to the sides and unleash that tyson hook, the one with those "old school up's"...

are you a southpaw like myself, why no righties?

also ps why when people are giving you advice, are you jumping on them defending yourself.. that you do hit hard.. and this and that.. blah blah..

no one is calling you out.. people are just critiqueing you bro like you asked.

I'd love to box you biteme. Maybe when I move back to Texas in a couple of years.

I know you would. I've seen that you have experience. I'd rather wrestle you. No chance of getting my bell rung. If I actually start sparring, then maybe. I'm looking into a MMA school out here to get some training, not for competition, just to have the know how.

That's pretty good Red, but I don't think you could out squat me. When I was squatting regularly, I did high reps. Usually 315x20, sometimes 25, but could have done 30. How many times can you squat 405 parallel without a suit?

Never done it for reps, not part of my gameplan. I did 405x5for 5 sets at the end of my last mesocycle. I don't squat just to parallel. The human knee is not designed to be an eccentric brake.

Well being that I used to powerlift, that's the way I learned to do them. I've tried the ass to the floor ones, and they hurt my knees more. I stopped squatting because of knee pain and only do them occasionally now, but I did them this morning and haven't lost hardly any strength in that move. I squatted 6 plates on each side before, but don't know if I could do it now.

Biteme... the mma training is a blast especially if you have an agressive side... which I think you do. :-) I only started lifting to help my strength for martial arts. It's only been the last 5 years or so that my focus has shifted a bit more towards lifting as I kind of stopped fighting hard when I turned 40 or so and got into more travel with work. I've added 30 pounds of mass without an increase in BF and a load of strength in that time. I've been doing BJJ classes for a few years now whenever I am in town and I love them. I have years of stand-up work so adding ground game is great... even if I do get humbled sometimes by guys who weigh in at 185.
