Breaking News from ESPN: FBI Agents link McGwire to AAS.

No one can accurately predict the future, this is true. "Never say never," right? But if histroy teaches us anything, it's how to predict people's actions and what the most likely events will be. There is no evidence to suggest that AAS has any chance being accepted in the near future or in the long term. HRT? HRT is completely different from a young adult shooting up in their bathroom. HRT does not necessarily mean that person is on a weight training program and counting their calories everyday. See my point? As long as there are idiotic stories being published about kids committing suicide because of steroids, we'll never get a fair shake.

I'm a realist, lost my sense of optimism long ago, and I don't see AAS ever being readily accepted by the mainstream. Even if these stories of kids juicin' at an early age were not pushed by our media, I don't think SoccerMom in Kansas would really approve of adult males using AAS to further their progress in the gym. AAS is just too stigmatized at this point and I don't see that perception improving in the near future.

Booey.....it appears our chance at a "fair shake" has been lost along the way, along with Arnold's credibility among the BB world.

Arnold cashed in his chips....

Sequential predictions of the future (this will happen, then this, then this, then this, then this) are a little silly ... after all, how many were predicting these specific events a year ago?

IMO AAS has a good chance of gaining better acceptance through its HRT and cosmetic potential as well as a few other things

To me some of this was predictable. That the public would eventually realize that Bonds, Sosa, Giambi, et al were juicing? That baseball would be forced to adopt an NFL type drug policy? Much of this was predictable with only the overreaction of the media and Congress AFTER the new policy was instated being the strange occurrence.

As far as the HRT angle, I wish it were that easy. The buzz in the media now is that doctors are rapidly backing away from HRT. It has simply lost a great deal of momentum. Doctors are even shying away from obvious uses such as presribing AAS for AIDS patients. (Why do we think that doctors were giving AIDS patients HGH for muscle wasting when it was obvious that steroids would be 10X more effective? Anything to keep from prescribing steroids.) The latest excuse for dissing HRT for men is prostate health. We all know that's mostly BS, I mean there are drugs out there that can easily protect the prostate when we're talking about the fairly benign doses of test involved in HRT.

With the bad news about HRT studies involving women (frankly their health was not improved, but we're talking estrogen related hormones in that case) combined with the negative press for AAS, many men desiring HRT are probably forced to go to borderline quacks if they want a legitimate prescription.

Skittish docs and media hawks are not the kind of shit I want to hear about, ManualFlex.

Docs were never completely sold on HRT to begin with, so for you to say that they are getting sheepish now due to the media frenzy is only more depressing. Docs are meant to be innovators, not mindless sheep.

I am all up for discussions and opinions...It does everyone a little good to be able to voice an opinion and hear (read) others. But as far as predictions go, I think it is safe to say that history is the best predictor of the future. If you look at any major drug that has had congression hype and First Lady sensasionalism, ie. Pot, Coke, Heroin, X, and the list goes on...Then you can usually take what has happened to the rest of the "drugs" as an example as what will happen to AAS.
Coke was a very legal product in the past that even children could get, and it was basically used as a stimulant...But the "powers that be" eventually saw the need to regulate it. It comes and go in the media. It has been illegal for years but Nacy Reagan brought a whole new fanfare to it and many of the drugs...
The bottom line is...AAS will always be an illegal drug with certain medicinal uses, just the same as Pot and Coke. But it will still always be availible to the ones who want it (if they want it bad enough).
I mean think about it...There are always a ton of threads about smoking weed while on AAS...The fear is for AAS use right now, BUT, the last time I heard...Pot was just as illegal as AAS. but nobody seems to pay much attention to it (including members of this board) because there is NOT any current media hype about it.
History says the hype over AAS will die down and but it will still be illegal...but availible!
