Box squats 10.22.03

Pretty tired from OLs and stones last night... but all well...

Box Squats

245 x 2 x 4 sets
255 x 2 x 4 sets
315 x 1
365 x 1
385 x 1

The walkouts on the 365 and 385 sets were brutal.. my core was ROASTED after last night and today's work sets.

Timed Holds (clean grip)

225 to failure (3 sets)

Also did reverse hypers, girl machines, and calves.. then called it a day. Am currently doing gripper work at home.

Thanks revex. I appreciate that.

Also... I was thinking about what we were discussing the other day about squat depth, when we were saying that sometimes on heavy sets we dont feel like we can go any deeper... even though we are not at parallel. I think that by forcing out the knees even more, we are able to control depth better. Today I focused on forcing the knees out when my butt wanted to fall down onto the box... by doing this I was able to control my descent and depth VERY well.

What do you think?

So you consciously force your knees to go to the outside? The way I do them is keeping knees in neutral position and just sit back. Sounds pretty interesting, gotta be flexible to do that with close to 400 lbs on your back. What is your regular squat, 400+?

Yes... I consciously kept forcing my knees out, I am not sure why but I felt MUCH tighter at the bottom of the squat.

I have done a shallow 475 with a belt and wraps... though I feel like I could hit it to depth right now.

Max box squat, i estimate, is around 430. Most I have done is a relatively easy 405 after my speed sets.

My box is just below parallel for me... it is 5 of the step aerobics platforms stacked on each other, if that makes sense.
