There is ALOT of liberal tripe to wade through; his efforts to somehow relate the military to the gun violence, some factual innacuracies etc.

However, the point made about media-induced paranoia and fear mongering was right on from my perspective....

I look at it as a strategy to sell most effectively. 'The media' efforts to appeal to humans' most basic instinct of survival by frightening them, which increases the quanity of viewers ( E Coli Tainted Meat at YOUR grocery store, join us for News at 9:00).

I don't know if this is to blame for gun violence, but I like that this scare-culture of the media is being criticized... you can attribute stories like the ephedra to the same method.

Other than that, I was disappointed he had to basically discredit that part of the film with so much of that typical habit of feminine/liberal gray area/hopping-around-my-opinion-sways-with-the-wind-and-certainly-doesn't-need-facts type of presentation.

And also his somewhat-subtle efforts to link the military with columbine gun violence really was transparent and offensive at best.

You might enjoy the book "A Culture of Fear." I don't remember the author but the book basically explores how the media exacerbates fears of Americans by highlighting the negatives and bads. Even as the U.S. becomes safer as a whole, the media portrays the U.S. as more dangerous and more violent.

I fell asleep half way through the pay-per-view. Maybe I'll rent it.

I had to watch a film by that communist asshole for school once, the teacher wouldnt let me miss out on it, as much as i said i dispised him and his ideals. Michael Moore is so anti business its crazy. I havent seen bowling for columbine, but his other movie "downsize this" he would go out and speak about how "big business" hurts the common man...big business means large #'s of jobs, and last i checked the owner of the company and its top level guys SHOULD make more then the bottem level workers...its called incentive to work hard and get promoted. anyone who thinks i dont see this from an accurate perspective, let me tell you my father has a hs diploma and a few credits from a jc where he took a business and accounting class. no ph.d, mba or even undergrad. He got hired at the bottom level of an advertising agency, basically mail room. After 25years of hard work he was the CEO of west coast operations for the largest advertising agency in the states, hard work does get you places, and big business provides an arena to succeed in.

His point is that big business is swallowing up everything in site...if you are working for a big corp. and then they decide to cut back or down-size or modernize by replacing workers or move their companies out of state or country- your basically screwed...big business is on its way to being only a few large conglomerates...and then you'll know what communism is....definition: COMMUNISM- AN INTERNATIONAL, CONSPIRATORIAL DRIVE FOR POWER ON THE PART OF MEN IN HIGH PLACES WILLING TO USE ANY MEANS TO BRING ABOUT THIER DESIRED AIM-GLOBAL CONQUEST....just my .02

Economics is an area I generally do not comment on due to lack of knowledge, I do think taxation penalties for outsourcing may be a good way to discourage companies from shipping jobs overseas.

WTF? Taxation penalties for outsourcing? Are you sick? Outsourcing provides a way for companies to discard services (internal / external) services that they aren't good at to focus on core business. Outsourcing also provides for a flexible workforce that can be trimmed and increased through good times and bad. For example, if a major retailer has their own IT shop or own HR benefits department; then they would have to pay to upkeep those skills. Given that IT or HR isn't the major retailer's core business, wouldn't it make more sense for them to hire out those functions and invest in business development? This way, they can hire companies who specialize in those skills and pick and choose which one they want.

Here's an easier example. Do you have the skills to maintain your car or house? Maybe or maybe not. Could you learn? Sure. However, fixing your car / house may not be a value add skill given that it won't affect your earning power. Thus, wouldn't it be better for you to hire a mechanic / contractor who has specialized skills for the job and allow you to focus on core skills that will increase your earning power?

The knee jerk reaction for outsourcing is that the worker is negatively affected. Outsourcing just means that the worker will have to adapt to their conditions and adjust their strategy accordingly (learn new skills, move, choose another vocation, cry, etc.).

It was a great film and everything was 100% accurate.
