Blood Test Results

Total test = 5.92 nmol/L

Free test = 4.07 ng/dl or 0.14 nmol/L

I am not sure why they did a free test on you, your test levels are very low and I am sure you have clinical symptoms of low test as well.

How old are you?

Have you cycled before? If so, how many cycles?

Total Testosterone 172 ng/dl
%free Testosterone 2.37 H
Free testosterone 40.7 pg/ml

those are my numbers copied from sheet word for word. I'm not sure what the numbers on your post were, perhaps I am confused or ignorant to what you are telling me.

I am 32 and have done two cycles in my past, but that was over 8 years ago.

Look at the units I used. They are the same results, just converted into different units.

You are a candidate for HRT.

When was the last time you had your test levels checked.

I meant had you ever had them checked before this?

Have you read the symptoms of having low testosterone?

No, this is my first blood test that I'm aware of. I have nothing else to compare it with. After reading up a little what would you say about this, although my total test is low the amount of free test is high and that is a more meaningful number.

Should I be addressing the total test or am I in the clear with such a high free test number?
Is the total test a forewarning for low levels in general to come?

Your free test is not high. It is quite low for your age.

This is your free test:

40.7 pg/ml = 4.07 ng/dl = 0.17 nmol/L.

pg = picograms

ng = nanograms

nmol = nanomoles

Think of nano technology, nano is very small unit, pico is even smaller, which is why the number comes out bigger, it has nothing to do with having more free test.

Did you get these tests from an internet website or did you go through your doctor?

The total testosterone is a far more accurate measure than the free test. This is just due to the fact testosterone is measured, free testosterone is calculated from testosterone and SHBG, and there are problems with these tests, especially at low test levels.

I would highly recommend you see your doctor about this.

These are from a diagnostics lab which my Doctor sent them to. I will be consulting with my doctor about this asap. What is your best guess, am I looking at some hormone replacement therapy?

I'm not to excited at that prospect.

this is an odd range of numbers. either way, your total and free are VERY low. there must be a cause of this and you should definitely do a more comprehensive blood panel to determine if any discrepencies exist with Estrogen especially, but also Prolactin, TSH, DHEA, etc, etc...

i just got my blood test back today (http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/anabolic-steroids/blood-test-gyno-new-cycle-643548.html) and my 968 total testosterone & 178 free are VERY high. my estradiol was high too (76). i am 29 myself. all my other levels were normal. i haven't cycled in two years. just goes to show the differences between folks... but definitely let your Dr. know that you are extremely concerned about this. what is your libido like? erection problems? ok, now i'm getting too personal... lol :)

Did you also have LH/FSH?

As pitbullrocco mentioned, did you have any other hormones measured, such as TSH and oestradiol and progesterone?

TSH would eliminate any pituitary issues.

I realise the shock of having to take hormone replacement, I have had the same thing recently with thyroxine. However, after realising how much better I feel on it, it really has been a good thing.
