Blood Preassure 150 over 110

My girlfriend dragged me to the doctor yesterday because she thought my ankles were swelling. The doctor checked my BP immediate - 150 over 110... very high. He immediately put me on a diuretic to lower BP.

This stopped me and made me ask:

What warning signs did I miss?

I had noticed a couple weeks ago after I set my last leg press record that my legs seemed weak. I had just gotten a small muscle tear in my side (and shoulder) so I attributed the difficulty squatting to stability problems... but it was a significant weakness. I was having trouble moving my warm up weights.

Has anyone else had BP affect their lifts?

The summer before my Sr. year in college I was loaded up on D-Bol . I was beginning to get some shortness of breath, I panicked immediately, which only made things worse. I went to the Dr. and my BP as 158/98. Since I was only 21 years old, and due to my physical appearance, he asked what I was on, and I told him. He gave me some water pills, told me to drink 2 gallons of water a day, and watch my sodium intake, and to continue this 2 weeks after I come off, then make an appt. to get checked out. Went back 2 weeks after my cycle and my BP was 119/79.

I would just chill and take the script from your Dr. and watch the sodium, all should be well within a month of stopping your cycle.

Sofa, I've been on BP meds for about 2 years, and I've seen my BP as high as yours...even a little higher.

For me, there were no warning signs. No headache, fatigue, nothing. If not for a physical, I might not ever have known.

Interesting theory about it affecting your lifts...I'd never really thought about it. I've forgotten to take my meds for long stretches, and I can't say that it ever affected my lifts, but I am curious.

Good to see you around, Sofa. I was wondering where you've been.

I was on a camping trip. My girlfriend and I got an RV and went to her family reunion. They do it every year at a mountain lake.
