birth control, h2o retention and fat?

my girlfriend is on "the pill" she has gained a little weight. im curious if it is waater or fat or what. i just got her to start training with me 4-5 days a week one body part but i do low reps and she dose high. were both on high prot low carb diets but im not suer how much protein to give her? she weighs about 145lbs and hold about 10-12%bf. i need to get her bf checked but she feels uncomfortable about it right now. anyway she dose cardio 6days a week for 30 min at 50@ full effort. any tips for her bf reduction or training regimn would be greatluy appreciated. she is on hydroxy cut now taking 3 per day but shes about to bump it us to six cause shes been on it for about a week.

any ones input would be helpful!!!!!
 
the pill can cause you to retain a little water, although it could be any number of things.

i would suggest her doing heavier weights and lower reps, to build more muscle.

she has to eat clean also. and eat as much protein as possible. i dont measure mine but eat as much as i can.

cardio...you may want to read Lobos post When 30+30 doesn't equal 60.

and last but not least, get her on these boards so she can learn lots of great stuff to achieve that bf she's looking for!

You didn't say how tall she is, but 10-12% bf is pretty low for a female. Competition level bf is 7-8%. Menstrual cycles will usually shut off around 11% bf. When she sets bodyfat goals make sure that expectation lines up with her goals - if she just wants to get tighter, 12-15% bf is a very good goal. If she wants to go to competition level, then 12% bf is reasonable for "off season". Determining her goals will also help dictate diet & training regimen.

As far as fat retention due to b/c, its fairly common - some people are affected more than others. Generally, you just do the clean diet & training thing and live with the expected "female fat". There are ways to deal w/ that "estrogen pattern fat" (e.g. hips, butt, thighs), but involved either taking an anti-estrogen like nolvadex (which will negate the effects of the b/c - i.e. use a condom) or lipo.
 
im asking for her now cause she is busy but i think the heavy weights would not be as benificial because she dose not want to gain any more mucsel (dose this sound like a good idea to loose fat and not gain any more mucsel) she wants to lean up now, she s going for more of the fitness competitor look more than the mrs. O look, but she already has plenty of muscel!!!!
 
If she is really want to compete in fitness, Have you seen the fitness girls? they are spooky scary if you are going to be competing against them, They have a lot of muscle, I imagine she would probably want to pack more muscle on if she was really going to want to compete :)
 
I recently heard of a birth control pill new to the market. It's not supposed to have the sides of weight gain and water retention. I think it was called Yasmine.

Might want to research it.
