I I'm sure genetics play a role as does training. I would not even hazard a guess as to the relative importance of either as I am sure they vary on an individual basis.

There's a lot of genetics involved. I have allways had tennis ball bi's. It makes my arms look bigger than the are, when they were only 14" no one believed me. I have done activities that involve pulling all my life, so maybe that helped? All my pull muscles have always dominated the push muscles. (which sucks).

agree with hammer curls.
id say 75% genetics and 25%training,
but without correct training, you won't see full genetics potential

I never had a peak. Then I tried standing in between the cable crossover machine. I was told to keep my arms above parrellel at at all times. Keep the bi's flexed from full extension all the way in to being fully contracted... then to squeeze for two seconds before flexing all the way out... I did three sets of that at the end of every bicept workout for a month and wham... bicept peak. I believe it is both genetics and training. I think I lucked out with the peaks!

body fat has a good deal to play too.. maybe it is genetic but i store a bit more fat on my arms then i would like.. but when im down around 6% i have crazy definition in my arms but they dont really show nicely until im really low..

sux when im really low bf% im even smaller than my normal small self.. :(

A bodybuilding book I bought on a fitness board a lot like this one said preacher curls actually work the braichialis more, underneath the bicep.

It said do curls on a decline instead of an incline. I'm trying it now, but I still think it's genetic.

I believe its all genetics. My best friend and I both played football in school since 7th grade. He has a much much better peak than myself, while my biceps are much thicker and rounded, his look to have a golfball stuck on top. Its been like that before we lifted and stayed like that till today and we are both 21. I do preacher curls, hammers, seated curls, standing curls, standing straight bar curls all using supersets etc.. The only thing that I have gotten is a really good bulge at my lower bicep that really makes them pop out, but still no peak.
